Bugger. I'll have to miss the Jack Hogg for about the fourth year in a row. It's on the same weekend as our annual pilgrimage to the Goulburn Blues Festival. As much as I love dirt track, we've been doing this festival for years and we love it. Oh well, there's plenty more events this year. http://www.australianbluesfestival.com.au/ (http://www.australianbluesfestival.com.au/)
-
I was at the Oz titles the last coupla years so if u've been to both, can U tell me how it rates as far as participation levels??? Does it pull as many punters??? Is there a trophy girl/girls??? Can I bring my mum & if so will somebody be there to let me win?????
Whats the circuit like???? Length.... Alttitude..... Start grid position...
-

http://www.ozvmx.com/whatson/2009-jack-hogg-regs.doc
(Word doc, 323 kb)
-
A couple of notes after reading sup regs.
There seems to be no provision for day licences,
And time table seems as if it may have a miss print "riders briefing at 01.45 "
should that be 10.45 am ??
will try to find out tomorrow and update .
cheers
Noel
-
Hi ,
I have spoken to Leanne Gordon,
Day licences will be available ,
good Idea to enter early and let Her know that you will need one
if that is your situation,
riders Briefing should read 10.45 am
and there fore
Practice ASAP after Riders briefing....,
cheers

thanks for the feed bak ozktm500 (was it?) The event doesn't clash on my calender which is a good start....
I notice the bikes all run together eg(pre75 125,250&open) so I guess they're scored together yeah??? Many blokes been known to win on 125s'???? hmmmm I'm the last to suggest a 125 couldn't win ridden well but .....
least U've got all manner of classes so I can run my mods... darn it they both qualify for same events..... back up bikes are handy when your me so thats still good...
I need some racing & I need to have some racing pretty soon or I just might 4get what to do...
Thats alot of 'ticks' in them there boxex....
Finances.... 'cross' ....... hmmm & I need my race mech/driver 'Cross'
we'll have to wait & see now how things pan but i'm almost "super pumped' at the whole prospect now ,,,
-
Hi Devilman,
they do not generally run the capacities together,
thats just on the entry,
they divide into classes and sometimes have to combine the few that have less than 6 or so entries.
often have 2 or 3 grids of pre 75 and classic open classes.
if you want o have a look at the track go to google earth and zoom in, its near the coast next to the
river mouth and horse track,
(http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j41/Tento850/jackhoog.jpg)
also plenty of pic's in race reports section of OZVMX pages
cheers
Noel
-

Looks like the Narellan pub mafia heading to the Jack Hogg..what a line up!! Shoey,Ribbo,Andrews,Firko,Magoo.....then throw in the Novocastrians Richters and Crossey then team KTM 555 and company looks dangerous on Friday night...may result in poor lap times on Saturday and Magoo riding a Bull is this true has the love triad with Andrews and Team Husqvarna finished or is Brucey the brand slut that I always new that he was???
Harro ;)
-
Are ya coming Harro? For such a Honda lovin' Nancy Boy, Magoo does indeed whore himself around for a ride. Next thing he'll be hitting me up for a skid on my Maico ::).
-
Any updates re: weather in Moruya and whether Jack Hoggs's still on? It's pissing down here in the Heart of the Golden West.
-
Firko,
I cant make it to Jack Hogg....my next play will probably be at Broadford hopefully my six day Matador will be ready and will take a Sherpa as well I just need a Pursang 360 for the trifecta they are a bit more user freindly than the Bandido and I know how much you love Buls!!!
Then looking forward to the Narellan pub mafia vinduro at Rockley....Hans is keen for it he has a 81 430WR that he is getting ready and Stefan is up for it as well, its a matter of funds and what events to ride as there is plenty going on that doesnt involve racing just old blokes, old bikes an a lot of bul.

Jack Hogg Classic
Peter , Ribbo and I had a great week-end
Outstanding meeting
Very well run , enough rides to make sure you were fatigued at the end of the day.
Cool weather and over cast all day. Perfect riding conditions
Very nice surface which made for fast riding.
The tyre wall was even nice and soft (that's another story)
The Sydney boy's kicked the Newcastle kids like old cans and Ribbo won a trophy.
The beer was cold and the Pizza's were very tasty.
Great week-end with great mates

I'm home safe,
got Ricky and Ross's bike's safely as far as Sydney and left Browny to get them the rest of the way
Ricky in good spirits, though popping plenty of pain killers on the way.
Rossco rang from Hospital this morning sounded like they were giving him the good drugs,
He was really upset about taking Les down on his wild ride. and holding up the meeting.
didn't seem to concerned for himself , but I think he is a bit of a mess , Hand and ribs,
maybe more, haven't operated yet.
I hope all goes well for these blokes.

cheers

PS and Magoo won a trophy for an event he didn't even ride in ;D
-
This year was the third time I've been to Jack Hogg and it is now, to me, one of the must do events on the Calendar. Brilliantly run meeting, great racing and a great bunch of guys. Brett Chipperfield and Rossco400 ended up in Hospital together. Seeing it was Valentines Day maybe they could have got themselves a double bed. Brett has a broken leg and Rossco 3 broken knuckles, 3 broken front ribs and 1 back rib. He's hurting bad but asking if Les is pissed off with him for taking him out. I'd reckon not, shit happens.
Firko was there looking like the love god that he is, along with Billy Forsythe. A great time had by all and I even won a trophy without riding the class, Mark Austin rode the bike i entered and I got the trophy, COOL.
Anyone who gave it a miss really missed out, next year maybe.
-
wow!!! bit of carnage huh??? would have been me for sure if I'd come, track looked scary fast from the overhead shot posted and speed can often begat tatters .... tatters at speed is not advised... however leather sounds like it would be advised ...mmm onepiece leather .....
-
For various reasons beyond my control I've missed the Jack Hogg meeting in previous years. This year I found myself free so decided to grab old Billy Forsyth and make the journey south to Moruya. Despite the pissy weather the meeting went off like a firecracker. The vibe was great, the racing was close and the organisation friendly and professional without becoming overbearing. A number of forum punters made the journey. Mark Austin, Husky67, Husky 61, Ribbo, Snowy76, OZ555,Noel, Rossco400, Magoo and many more Sydney and country racers had a ball on the well prepped track. As previously stated, there were a couple of nasty crashes that sadly sent a couple of racers to hospital. Rossco400 had a specially nasty off when his carburetor came apart causing a full throttle jam into the rear of an unsuspecting Les Richters. Both riders hit the deck pretty hard, with Les losing a fair bit of bark and Ross coming off a fair bit worse with a number of broken bones. Apparently he ended up in hospital along side Brett Chipperfield who had crashed his slider, breaking his leg. There were a few other less traumatic injuries but it didn't deter too much from the cool vibe of the event.
This meeting is the perfect season opener so my advice is to not miss it next February.

All good firko. Has anyone else got any more shots from Moruya, like Mark Austin perhaps.
-
Sorry I didn't take any photos this time, too busy riding ;D
Billy Forsyth took heaps of photos, so I'll have to have a chat to him about it, not doubt some of the best will show up in the next edition of VMX Magazine.
Cheers,
Mark
-
I went and Seen Rosco He looked alright for a guy who got hit by a MACK truck .
He should be back home Now
-
Well not my best ride weekend away by a long shot but does give me a different perspective::)
Just got off the plane couple hours ago and alls good, people helping everywhere, strangers carrying stuff for me at the airport, kinda restores your faith in people in general
Thanks to all who helped throughout this ordeal, great support from the VMX community trying to help me get home and special thanks to Dennis (oz555ktm)for taking the time out to call into hospital with a coffee and a cake and an offer to drive me home which Canberra to Newcastle and back is no easy task. Same offer from Magoo from his place and to all the guys who rang up to see if they could help in anyway. thank you
Nothing like a few broken bones to let you know your still alive and that you have a good network of mates
Sick feeling taking out one of your friends when you've got no control and happens in the blink of an eye. Would not of thought Mikuni cap would/could of unscrewed itself but there you go :-[
Did ring Les up and seems hes ok but for few aches pains and arse scrape.
Canberra hospital staff and the Ambos from Moruya were just awesome and could not do enough in my short stay. As far as hospital experiences go, could not thank em enough,
Now just have to go and get the bikes out this weekend for a blast before I run out of Morphine guessing i wont get to ride for a month or three and gotta wire me knuckles back in place this week :-\
Do have to say though im big believer in all body armour and believe the knee, elbow and CTI wrist braces saved the day. Dissappointing part was had to get the new Maico Jersey with a lap and a half cut from the body as well as the Body armour suit.
Now just gotta convince the missus, chicks dig scars ;D

Whats the News on Ricky .

Brett Chipperfield looking a little 'invigorated' immediately after sucking on the happy stick in the ambulance!
I'm glad both guys are on the mend. The Rossco/Les bingle was a particularly nasty one that could easily have ended up much worse.Does anybody know how the guy on the YZ Yammy (sorry, I don't recall his name) who appeared to break his wrist got on?
-
thats bad luck ross hope you heal ok you will have to put l plates on the BIG 490 ;)
-
Whats the News on Ricky .
Grapevine says Broken Tib and Fib. torn Musel off Bone/Ankle .
When under the Knife to day .
pins screws.
All of the above Dennis just got off the phone with him and all is confirmed :(
PM to Dennis & Noel
Good Photos Firko. I can kind of remember those moments in time fairly well, foretting them will be a bit harder, shame to see you go from the forum. Keep up the fitness regime and see you out on the track somewhere this year.
Magoo, i hope you didnt keep that trophy and passed it on to its true owner ::) :o
-
Ok Now we all know how every one is now lets talk about the week end ...
Go to the Gate and meet up with a hole gang of Blokes Husky Peter had a wheel for me and I had 2 bottles of Red from Him.
The gate Open and we set up Camp in the pits I was good to see so many Face it did not seam like a year ago .
well race started It was Fast and Fun many riders Loved the Track .
As you can see by going back to Noels post up a birds eye look of the track .
50 % of the track you are Sideways .
It was good to see groups of riders Racing around .Many of them all mates .
Pleanty of Racing 5 round . I ented 3 class so that was 15 races and I got into the Jack Hogg at the end of the Nigth .
The larst race was around 9.30 pm so it was all ran under Lights witch make you go harder as you end up race your Shadow .
This is a real Buzzzz to race under Lights .
Arfter it as all done Noel did a Pizza Run and we (Noel, Snowy ,Magoo ,Browny and Ricky) all sat down
and relived the Nigth we drank Beer and Ricky Poped Pain killer as the rain set in for the Night.
The Jack Hogg is a Must Do Race ..
Yes it dose seam like a few Blokes got a bit of Damage But it was due to Bad Luck Only.
all riders had Room to Race and race Hard and I think we all had a Lot of Fun
And I do belive that Next Year Firko will be out on the Track on he Maico ..
I would Like to Thank all who Helped to Put on the Jack Hogg and over the years it has just
got Better and Better .
-
yep,
despite the reality check of injured riders, good fun for others,
organisers ,volunteers, and riders alike helped to make things run smoothly.
I personally had a ball ,
Getting used to the mighty CZ and enjoying it immensely,Beautiful, smooth, usable power that it gets to the ground
with out fuss, and surprised myself with my own performance, chasing the pre 70 sliders and being in the same turn at the same time, ;D way above expectations.
The XT500, well totally different kettle of fish, needs a heap of setting up to make it as confidence inspiring as the CZ.
Mark Austin was also fast till the 350 bully let him down and he reverted to the 250
Snowy with a few bike problems early got faster and faster as the meeting wore on only to throw it away without injury
in the last event of the evening
cheers Noel
-
Have to agree it was a fun track and was having a ball until slight mishap.
I liked the fact you could get into a slide from just about anywhere and keep a cracking pace happening.
Got to have a few laps in on the new 490 Maico but clutch slippage slowed it down a tad
Who ended up winning the Yamaha 500 race
Missed out on my favorite part of the day Pizza and Beer and the after race atmosphere but always next time. Pizza would have been a great substitute for tiny teddies
Will definately be on the must do list for next year as feel I was prematurely ejacaulated this year ::) :D
-
Yamaha 500 Cup
Won By Mark Herfoss
He picked up a few other trophies as well 8)
-
and Snowy got 2nd and I do belive that Noel Got 3rd .
-
It all sounds so good. It's been a couple of years since I did this event, and sat on the footpath eating pizza at 10 PM Saturday night. I really missed it this year. Thanks for making me so envious Dennis!
-
I got the leather medal for fourth (,Because I rode slow enough not to fall off and my bike ran all day and night, not due to
any rider prowess{finished last in every race ::)})
Snowy was in front off me but not sure how far
Noel
-
Noel Dont Talk it down Mate you rode well .
On the CZ you was like a Bat out of Hell .
The TT I think a Good Tyer will make the diffrents .
Ps Noel thanks for the PM is My spelling that Bad ??????
-
Don`t want to rub it in Graeme, but it was a great day. except for Rosco`s and Ricky`s injurys. Borrowed parts off another rider in the Yamaha 500 race to keep mine going, was happy to take 3rd place trophy behind him at the end of the night.
Bloke That kept me honest in the Evo 250 races got me in the over 45`s, racing was fast and fair. Noel is really starting to ride the wheels off the CZ , Dennis was struggling a bit with the set up of the 495, but had the 125 flying.
Highlight was getting into the Jack Hogg feture race , last race of the night under lights. Ricky and Rosco hope your doing OK and getting all the sympathy us old Racers deserve.
-
are les & brett back home or in hospital or what, how are things coming along with them, any body know? wally.
-
Les is OK,
He continued to ride later in the day, Big Kev would have got him home ,
I haven't heard about Bret,
Noel
-
Hi fellas good to hear the poor fellows that had a spill are in good spirts & wish them all a speedy recovery. You can't keep good men down( even if they don't ride hondas). I bet they will all be back next year for another crack at the Jack. Great meeting had a ball but we need to push the event to get a few more riders as it is a laid back race day with no serious dudes who think a trophy is better then the smile on ya face after a blast with riders of the same interest . The club again did an excellent job with the limited help they ( Thanks Leanne your a champ) had track was superb. It was great to see the up coming talent in the Terry Sruhan Modern Feature Race christ i hope they don't get a classic bike in the near future . Hey Denis 555 ya right ya can't speeell fur shiite. but ya still not a bad bloke . LOL
-
brett had his leg pinned on tuesday i havent spoken to him since
cheers
jim
-
All the best luck Brett, hope you heal up well.
