Its going to be a big one boys and if you've never been U should come. Its flat out with a long straight so gear accordingly.... Races are short (just over 2 mins) which means its never not fun .... unless u hit the fence. Then it really sux.... really, really sux.... the horror.... sorry people.. having flashbacks .... hah ha
30th Nov is racing but theres a practice day the sunday before on Nov 23. I've got some used tyres anyone can have for free 18" & 19" trials & speedway since U cant use knobbies on the rear, so theres no excuses for not showing just small nadds. Who's bringing what??? Theres a class for everything I'm taking the EVO250 for Viper + KX500 & 06YZ250 for modern classes......

All sounds real good Devilman. Would that be North, South, East, or West of Sydney. Excuse my ignorance.
-
South, Waaaaaaay South as in 71 Km north of Melbourne!
-
If there is anyone considering going to this event, then do yourself a favor and get along to the practice day and get some laps (and the eye) in. Nick, Anthony and the VIPER crew are 100% committed to this event and will help you with race/riding hints if needed.
Nick has offered up some freebie tyres and i can pretty well guarantee that Anthony (Powerhouse Motocycles in PAKENHAM) will fit the tyre for a can of OP Bundy and give you a few basic set up tips at the same time.
For those that have not been to the Broadford complex then you are missing one of the best setup's going. Great pit set-up, toilet block and track preperation put it at the forefront of faciliies in Australia.

Wouldn't you go though a few pairs of mx boots a year, ? being $200 odd for MX boots.
budget blow out :o
or is the ground soft over there. ;D
-
Alison
the track at nepean has soft dirt top which turns dusty if not watered a few times a day.
-
Just on the 'boot-rooting' ;D The idea .... no...... the technique required for dirt track on mx bikes is one where your not doing it right if your dragging your leg too much. That said it stil happens alot & I've asked after sliding boots but now I'm not as loose my boots are lasting longer...
-
I have just watched the video again ,thanks yzhilly.
So is it slide, glide and guide ? or
glide,slide and guide ::)
and fang it :P
or all of the above ::)
Looks like a hoot anyway ;D Thanks
and the writing was on the wall already Thanks Freaky

Without stating the obvious can i make some suggestions ( assuming your new to FT) without sounding like an arse, just im guessing your asking for ideas ?
If you intend to place get the outside line and block it, if its got sweeping turns the fastst line seems always to be wide in , wait till you see the apex open up then come in on full gas, you'll sling shot out the corner and pick up all the guys who came in tight and as always drift wide, specially if you have a corner near the finish line, its better than a hole shot to rip over the line as you pass some dude on the inside exit move.
Just Keep it smooth and gassed, unless the track has a tight end bend then you can square it off and bounce off the tyre walls MX style. IF its a nice track and not a trotting track think like your driving your car keep that width at least off the insides or wider, sticking to the inside will just slow your progress, you want to get to the point where your never off the gas and littleraly sliding into the corner, leave you brakes at home, you can keep a constant pace up if you pick a line that you can stay on the gas all the way around at a speed your happy with then as you get confident with your drift you can tune your throttle up as you confidence grows, you need room to work the bike so getting that line right early in you move to FT will really speed up your progress, dont be worried about much faster riders if you have left the right space on the inside, they can pick a line either side to come in on and will be clean, they will appriecitate that more than you bubbling around on the inside and blocking or baulking them on the apex. Hilly if you work your line right you will have complete control and the angle will come, too tight you can only be upright and you ill never enjoy it or progress. Look again at the photos above , notice there track and bike position, even the left foot ( pegged) you can learn alot from those pics.

Ha i purposely didnt post any vids of me last time out as i was so slow,The faster you go the wider the line gets as you can see on the vids the fast guys are all out in the middle of the corner . If anyone can get hold of Dennis OZYktm and find out what happened to the video of the Dirt track nats . ???. That would be worth watching . Anyway next season i want to do some flattrack races and set my YZ400E up a bit better but it is good fun and definetily a bit easier on the body than MX and thats why young or old anyone can have a go at it .
