Title: motor eligilbilty
Post by: shorelinemc on November 06, 2008, 02:58:37 pm
G`day i need a bigger /faster motor for my wasp 1976 (stock xs650) happen to have a water cooled gpz900 motor(1984) which looks like it would be a nice fit.would this motor be legal in a pre85 outfit? I like the idea of a stock big motor rather than a hotted up xs650.reason i am 138kg passenger 80kg so i am giving up to 60 kg advantage to the other bikes .

Robin A liquid cooled 750 Suzuki is legal in pre75 so your 1984 heavy weight engine should be kosher in pre85. As you most likely know the FIM basically killed of the heavy weights when they put the capacity limits on in 86/87 >:( Light weight long travel 500cc single two strokes (eg CR500 KX500 etc) would not be "in the  spirit" but the GPZ in Wasp frame sounds OK. :)
