How good a bloke is Roger? You guys are lucky to have met "the man" in such cool and laid back surroundings. I was honoured to get to spend an afternoon with him at Hans Apelgrens house the last time he was here. I was granted the only interview he gave during that disasterous mid 90s tour (theres a good yarn on his escape from a dodgy promoter that I won't go into here). With just Hans, Roger, fellow vintage racer Chris Ellis and myself, we drank the Swedes beer and Roger opened up on everything we asked, from his thoughts on many of the other greats of the sport, modern and old to motocross politics and a bunch of other stuff, some a little "surprising" that couldn't be included in the printed interview. I'm sure you blokes heard many similar yarns. The amazing thing that comes out of meeting these legends is the reality that they aren't the 'gods' we had assumed them to be, they're normal folks just like us. Drakie has related elsewhere how down to earth Jaroslav Falta and Jiri Stanek were, we all remember how much Joel reminded us of 'some bloke down the pub' or the amazing joy that Jim Pomeroy bought into everybodies life. Jeff Smith and Jimmy Aird created a similar vibe in WA and Brad Lackey was as funny as shit with a few beers under his belt. And who could forget Hunky, not a legend racer but a legend just the same.
It's refreshing to know that most of our heroes don't suffer from faded rock star egomania. I wish I could have been there.

* You couldn't help it could you Magoo. You had to wear that shirt! Simply gorgeous!

Just finished reading the ADB mag " DeCoster/Chad,Chad/DeCoster" SuperX/Suzuki article.

You folks where very fortunate to have caught up with true legend in Roger DeCoster.  8)

quote from Chad: he's seen so much and that experience can't be bought or replicated.  8)
