Title: Fraz's latest bike
Post by: Colin Jay on November 03, 2008, 07:23:48 pm
I was up in Broken Hill on the weekend and went out to see one of the mates, Chris Fraser at the Silverton Hotel to have a look at how his latest bike was going (see picture)

As you can see, it is coming along nicely, and he only has to do a few small detailed bits of work to get it finished. Chris with the help of a few mates has built it as a replica of Kenny Roberts mile bike. The frame and forks are from a 1977 Yamaha XT500D and the engine is of course a Yamaha TZ750. Yes you might say it should be in a Champion frame, but as there wer only six made I would hate to see how much one of those would cost.

I have alread told Chris that I DON"T want a ride! Call me chicken if you must and I will happily put on a yellow feathered suit.

Tim,

I think the engine with the blower on top is a 6 cylinder Holden red motor. Chris has run a blown V8 bike up at Lake Gardiner in the DLRA speed trials. It is parked in one of hos sheds at present and hasn't been ridden for a few years now.

Chris has also built up a nice little laker for his son based on a early 70's Suzuki TM125, hopefully the lake will be dry in 2009 and we will get to run the bikes in anger.

The P76 engine sitting behind the beasty TZ 750 looks like it's out of the salt racer bike. They ran the "bike" when I was at Lake Gairdner in 2006. The meeting was cancelled last year. It's a unique piece of kit.  8)
