Title: removing a shock resevoir
Post by: LWC82PE on October 26, 2008, 03:32:24 pm
has anyone had experience with removing an alloy reservoir from an Ohlins piggyback shock? mine have very good annodizing and i dont want to mark them. Will they just unscrew with a strap type wrench tool similar to an oil filter removing tool for a car or road bike? i think there is one in the ohlins tool catalogue which i will probably get. would any heat be required? will this burn the annodizing or could i just heat the webbed alloy part to transfer heat to the thread in the alloy reservoir and not direct heat on the reservoir its self and not damage the finish?

We have a proper tool to assemble reservoirs , but there is never a need to remove them ,unless they are destroyed . I would imagine ,like YSS, Ohlins provides their service centres after satisfactory completion of schooling with a service centre kit , which would include all the tools needed. Have you done the school? Are you interested?
I run a school 4 x times per year in our factory for our international service centres. Graduations usually at the sportsbar :D
