Title: RM125 tank on 1982 PE175
Post by: oldmxracer on October 26, 2008, 12:33:02 pm
Anyone with an RM125 tank (mine is an N model I think) on their 175- does it carry enough gas to ride/race for an hour? Building mine for cross country races next year and I like the look.......

not sure here but a RM 250 t T holds about 8.5 litres. i think with a Rm tank you would be strugling to get 70 or 80 KM's, especially on a 2 stroke.

but still if you really want a RM tank then here you can buy new ones

unfortunatley clarke have just increased their prices too.

how big a tank do you want/need?

oldmxer, the largest of the RM tanks is the RM250/400N as LWC said at 8.5 litres. A full tank on the 400C used to give me near an hour of open fire trail type riding. In the scrub a lot better is acheived but when it's constantly on the main it ripped through the fuel. A 175 would not be so thirsty ??? and you wouldn't be riding absolutely flat out for the entire hour so I'd reckon, yes, you would get an hour and quite possibly more from the 8.5 litres on a PE175. Why not whack in a litre or even half a litre and see how long it lasts, this would give you a fair indication of what to expect and it would probably fall into the higher useage because during a short burst of 10 to 15 minutes you can ride harder than during an event of say 1 hour duration.

Local expert opinions are yes, a 175 will run a 1 hour race on a 125 tank. We''ll see......

yup! 8) I reckon the C model tanks are the pick of the bunch Mainline ;D although they may not be not the most desirable shape for riding up on the tank the asthetics work very nice indeed and the PE looks bloody good! :)
