Title: PE400 fork oil???
Post by: Grunter215 on October 18, 2008, 07:39:04 pm
Just rebuilt forks so go to put oil in(no springs...) put in same amount each, take measurement from top tube to oil...20mm difference. Drain oil, repeat process...same What the ****!! .Is this a PE thing or a balls-up somewhere? I assume the measurement should be closer. Was told go by oil amount rather than measure. What ya reckon??

fork tubes should be compressed and springs out  ......use the measure method lot easier  :)

yeah sounds like  trapped air. you gotta let them sit for a few minutes and bleed the air out by stroking them

Yeah done the no springs/compressed tubes and worked tube up and down a few times incase of trapped air . has been sitting for about 2 hrs and still about 20-25mm difference. So aslong as measurement is same the oil volume wont really matter as much???

im not sure why there is that much difference. there shouldnt be that much diffference in the machining of the damper rods/fork tubes to create a 20-25mm difference. ???
