Title: The Rarest of SUZUKI Parts on E-Bay
Post by: BAHNZY on October 13, 2008, 10:46:39 pm
Having chased the rod kit for many years, one pops up on e-bay.
Not wanting to offend the seller, but why say that the auction is a no reserve auction then place a starting bid of $300, is that not the reserve.

I don't like the hidden reserves. You never know if your wasting your time with them, much prefer them to be up front about thier minimum price

It's just a cheap ass way to get around paying Ebay for a reserve auction.

Agreed.

$300!? Has anyone approached a company like Argo to get some custom rods made? They were charging about that for custom car rods, and a non-split-big-end 2-stroke rod is easier to make (not to mention less material...).
And presumably a small production run would bring the price down.
Sure you've still got to source the pin, bearing and washers, but you'd have a good chance of finding something else that matches.

True. I just hit them with my max bid and if the reserve is not met I move on.

$300 for the barrel sounds OK. I just payed 200 pound plus postage for an NOS RH250 barrel and was happy to do it. Unfortunately, given the rocking horse poo factor, it won't go backwards- although these days who knows?
