Huston we have a problem....
1977 XR-75 has listed in the parts manual that they came with a tyre sticker on the chain guard (left hand side of the swingarm)
Has anyone actually seen one on a 1977 XR-75 ???
-
never seen a new one so im unsure
-
I'm sure I've seen one Kev, a goldy color with black writing if I remember rightly.
No idea where to get one though.
Cheer,
K

I'm not after one Darren :)
One of the forum members (Adam) is restoring his 77 model and received a tyre sticker as part of a sticker kit he purchased.
I know that the sticker exists (it's silver with black writing, same as on the right side of the swingarm), but I've never actually seen one on a bike.
The XR parts manual shows it, but I cant find any evidence that it was ever fitted to the bikes from the factory.
My question is has anyone ACTUALLY seen a 77 XR75 with a tyre sticker on it ??
I'm losing sleep over this ...

there were two slightly different variations of the 77 model, the first shipment (model) had silver forks and the second had black forks, you may find that one of these had it and the other did not????

Does this help...

This site lists the tyre pressure sticker as being for '73-'76 models only

Hi kevwrx,
I have an XR75 1977 model that is how it left the factory and it has a tyre sticker on the chain guard attached to the swingarm, it has the black forks as mentioned earlier. If needed i can get a photo of it later in the week. Peter.

E74
77 XR75 came with black lower fork legs, 78 XR75 came with silver lower fork legs, K3, K4 and K5 had the tyre sticker on the chain guard, my 2 77 XR75's still have their stickers on the chain guard.
-
Thanks for that but you will find the first shipment of '77 xr75's came with silver lower fork legs, I got one in october '76 from Jim Airy M/C from the very first shipment, and I wish I still had it.
-
yes there is ine on the side of the upper rear chain guard

i too had a 1977 K4 with silver fork legs, got mine late 1976

Darren (E74) knows how original my XR75 is, mine doesn't have a sticker and never looks like it did..
Mine is chassis number XR75 141-0666 (the devils own bike) built August 1976.
It has black fork legs, and still has the remnants of the paper sticker on the engine cases.
I've checked all the brochures and even the owners manual and guess what, no sticker.
This is getting confusing
-
Kev, thanks for chasing this up for me.
BETRIC or caps 999 can you tell me if the sticker goes on the top of the chain guard or on the side of the chain guard. I can't seem to find any photos of one on an actual bike.
P.S. I bought the sticker on its own, from a guy in Beaconsfield Vic on Ebay but Re-MX offer the same thing in a complete sticker kit for the K4/K5 as well as the K0 through to K3.
Cheers

To all the XR75 experts, the XR75K4 (5 speed) that was released late 1976 has black lower fork legs, in regards to the tyre pressure decal all previous model XR75's had the tyre pressure sticker be it on the rear fender K0-K2 and K3-K5 on the chainguard so unless Honda forgot to put them on early on production of the K4 which I doubt but mistakes can happen???, maybe the little XR75 assembler that was his job to put the decal on the assembly line was having a sickie that day!!!. The K3-K5 came with the decal on the side of the chainguard, I remember always peeling them off my new XR's nearly straight away as they looked daggy back then.

I wouldn't be so sure of myself miniwheels
I'm yet to see one with this sticker.

I have all the stock parts I pulled off my XR75 K5 back in 1978 packed away in my dads garage.
I will dig out the chain guard on the weekend and if its got the sticker on it I will take a photo and post it on here.

Sorry for the delay, but here are a couple of pics of that elusive chain guard sticker.
