I have just picked up a job lot of KTM's and need some help identifying them please. Here are the details and what I think they are: 1980 125GS VIN:003-45067, ENG:0-5002233. 1980 125GS: VIN:012-250992, ENG:0-5004895.
1981 250GS: VIN:012-26937, ENG:1-5413081. 1980 400GS: VIN: 010-22178, ENG:0-3603660.
There is also a couple of twin shock, water cooled 125's to come, 1981? Any help appreciated.
Cheers,

Ok
Fram No# all start with 3 or 4 Numbers
thay tell you the Date and month thay were made . EG
the 1980 125 Vin starts with 003-#####
up to 1980 the first number was the year 0 =1980 and the 03 is the month.
the engine start with the Engine Family 500 first 125cc 501 2nd generathion 125 502 3rd and so on..
250cc eninge ID 540 = 250cc 541 2nd generathion

The engine mite have 560 but dose it have any letters at the
end of the engine no# like a A or a B
A = 350cc
B = 390cc
Ktm Did put 350cc and 390 cc top ends on the 560 engine
560 did mean that it was a 420cc
560 = 420cc = 85mm piston
561 = 350cc = 77.5mm
562 = 390cc = 82mm
563 = 495cc = 92.5mm
-
Thanks again, it got the better of me so I took the head off for a look. 77.5mm piston = 350. Which engines have the same stroke, 350,390,400,420?

All the same
The 560 engine are all the same But the 563 is bigger wear the
cylinder fit into the engine cases
so you can find a 390 or a 420 top end to put on your 350.
Did the engine No# have a Letter at the end of it ??????

Thanks once again. No letter at the end of the engine number.
