Somebody asked what H6 means . H is the tolerance in size and the numbers are the finished surface . http://www.pfeffer.ch/isotolerances.htm

G'day Walter, its an unusual size, i will have a look at when i am at work Monday, we have all sorts of stuff.

is it worth checking some local engineering businesses close to you to see if they have one, would be exy to buy i guess.

whats it for ?

Hi Hoony , its for a prototype cartridge , I am limited with room , so I cant use 28 . I have 25, 26 and 28 x 1 , but not 27 . They are very expensive to buy as a special order . If we dont go ahead with the project or change it to another pitch , it will be another pricey item lying around forever . DC Swiss  could  make a die +tap  for $1850 , so I am trying my luck here first .I am not getting any younger , therefore much of those special tools will go to scrap one day , unfortunately .

Try Capital Cutting Tools located in Hamilton, Victoria. They show a M27x1 on their price list (taper, inter or bottoming) for about $140ea. They may have ex stock, if not usually a few days to grind and ship out, from memory they have blanks pre-made ready to grind to your requirement.

Thanks PMC , that is a great price and also made in Australia . Always got special dies taps and reamers made in Switzerland , but if I can get that in Australia in H6 tolerance and top quality ,I would be mad not to get them here. I will contact them . Thanks again. That forum still works great when you are looking for the impossible sometimes.

Hi Wasp,
How did you go with sourcing the M27 tap? Did Capital have one ex stock?
