Can anyone direct me to a photo of the Pre78 legitimate optional aluminium swingarm that was available for the RM125 A and B?
Thanks, Marcus

I've got the parts book drawing if that is any use. It is only listed as optional for the B model.

Here we go .......... ;-)

Thanks Sleepy.
If it shows the mount for the brake arm it would be very interesting.
Can you post a photo or send it to me PM please?

If you weld a torque arm mount on a C arm, you'll get pinned at scrutineering.....

Doesn't show the mount, only the top. My parts book shows the same pics as this one posted some time ago in 2013 and it seems Ted wasn't believing it then either.

I have scanned it but getting picture to show here is a bit hard for me. I could Email it to you if you PM me your email.
An interesting fact about alloy swingarms. There was a batch of Alloy arms made to fit RM250/370A's here in Brisbane back in 1976. I had one on my RM250A. They were made by John Walmsley and Vern Grayson. Not sure how many were made but I'd guess 12. I'm not big on old photos but I'll try and find a picture of my bike from back then. A copy of one of those would be legal in Pre78 if one could be found to copy.

I found a photo of my RM250A circa 1976/1977 with alloy swingarm fitted.

Send me your mobile to me on 0407004473 and I’ll send you a pic of the only legal one here in Oz.
I don’t know why you want one as they are exactly the same weight as the original B steel arm.
-
Couldn’t you build whatever you want?
Like you could in 1977.
-
Yes you can, as long as it’s bits from a 75,76,77 model bike
-
Or built from scratch, like a DG/FMF/CH one would have been.
-
You can only use period bits or replica's of period bits. That means you can manufacture a swingarm as long as it copy of something that was made back in the day. I would think you could make a replica of the locally made 250 arms and fit it to the 125 but not sure how close a 125 arm is to a 250.

I think i have photos of this swingarm somewhere but they are really easy to ID
optional B alloy arm has a cable guide tag welded on top of the RH side of the swingarm for the cable guide. Also has a torque arm bracket welded to the bottom side of the RH side of the arm.

the 78 C alloy arms have a threaded hole in the RH side of the arm for a wire cable guide loop to screw to. They also have no brake torque arm tag apart form the early C's that still had them fitted but not used.
This is the late C arm for floating brake (to tag) This is what most of the C model arms out there are like

This is the late C on the left and early C (with the brake lug still) on the right. I assume suzuki could not be stuffed cutting it off and just used up what was left of the optional 77 alloy arms first. The tag was never used as all the C's had floating rear brake. I guess they also may have just left it in case someone wanted to revert back to the 77 wheel and use the non floating set up.

You can also contact Graeme Boyd at Suzuki Newcastle His name on here is SON so you can also PM him. He has all the different types of swingarms above and the photos above are from him so thanks goes to him.
Another thing, if you are looking at aftermarket swingarms (DG/Profab/Lop) the banana ones are not pre 78 legal as they only came out during the 78 yr.
The PDI banana arms (they called them a Z arm) are pre 78 legal however. They were availeble very late 1977. I have got proof if anyone needs it to prove eligibility at the races.

That was comprehensive and helpful. Thanks.
