Hi can anyone tell me if the variations of head studs widths for this model or are the parts we have of different models, one style has 130mm width of case positions and the 115mm, and naturally the reco head won't fit , this is for early motorsport this will my friend out of trouble cheers elc hunter.

got centreport TL ,& XL,both 130,assume you mean the 2 long studs on the head that transverse through the barrell, couldn't find a sideport head, really early XL differed in the barrell, but i think that was just cosmetics, finning around camchain tunnel??, :P

I think from memory one of the motors I built years ago has the narrow studs and it is the very early version, probably 1972. The external fining is different on the barrel as discussed above. The early barrel basically has no fins on the cam chain side. Everything after that shared the same stud spacing even the 350's and the center ports.
Your friend will have too reco the early head or change barrels but there is a difference with the early models having 6mm bolts extra in the barrel at the front and rear into the crankcase.

His stuff could be very early but will ask him about the 6mm bolt/studs and the fining thanks.

The first model is the one that has the smaller stud space its the ones that have no fins on the cam chain model the biger one is from later just before center port

Yep checked the engine number of the bottom end he decided to use 1974-75 model engine so we look for a head to suit.

Pat,wouldn't it be easier to obtain later barrel to suit reco head?,if they interchange on early cases, cheaper than another head??justa thought, :P
