Title: WANTED - Yam DT2/3, RT2/3, RH crankcase.
Post by: John Orchard on April 04, 2019, 10:00:51 pm
l need a right side crank case, apparently DT2 & 3 and RT2 & 3 are the same, not sure about DT1 & RT1's as they have a different shift drum & forks ?

Will take a pair if not separating.

The RT ones have a different stud pattern for the barrel. Other than that the same.
It could be possible to repair if yours is broken.

Sounds ominous John [if that's the word]. What happened?. As stated, the 360 has a different stud pattern.

l rebuilt the engine when l first acquired the bike, l noticed a part of the crankcase had been broken away, there is a flange of casing that holds the right side bearing on the mainshaft from sliding away from the clutch. l figured that the step on the shaft would stop the bearing moving on the shaft, and the left end of the mainshaft would just push against the left casing, stopping movement in that direction.

With the bike idling and a little pressure on the clutch lever, you can feel the lever pulsing. l gather that with a helical primary-drive and slight mainshaft end-float, l am  feeling the movement through the clutch lever.

l imagine it is only the .5mm that l set the shaft end-float to, but my concern is what effect it may have on the shift fork on that shaft.

l am still going to test it this Sunday, the bikes first outing, l'm sure a few issues will arise :-)

That's a rather important piece of casting but it is not loaded under power due to the helical gear. Wouldn't be difficult to weld and re-machine, I've done quite a few like that on various makes and models but a new case may well be cheaper.

Yep you're correct about "load direction under load", l had to look at Partzilla :-)
