Title: Pro form pipe fitment yz490
Post by: Big Scotty on January 02, 2019, 06:25:47 pm
Gday has anybody had trouble getting a pro form pipe to fit correctly or do I need to do some minor alterations to get it to line up. The pipe is basically brand new but come with the bike,it doesn't fit square on the engine and seems to hit the air filter box if I get it square on there, just wanted to see if anyone has had trouble before I start adjustments
Cheers scotty

Hey Big Scotty, got yerself a pre 85 steed? The Proform and DG pipes that I've seen all should have come with a complementary sledge hammer to help you meld them to fit. Dunno about the 490 but the 250H needs 3x Viton 3mm o-rings put on the exhaust flange to make a snug fit. 125G didn't need any o-rings but the proform pipe hits on the frame and airbox.

Gday woody, thought I might get a bike to enter the Aus championships this year, there's a place with my name on it,yes last place,I think this pipe should have some sort of seals on it,going to look into that, just doesn't fit well at all on the bike, just don't want to bend and cut unless I have to

Scotty …..I had the same issues with my RM 125 B pipe, I ended up cutting 6mm off the head inlet and all my problems were solved

Hi Scott. Every aftermarket pipe I’ve fitted has needed some adjustments made. Make the Pro Form fit because they’re good on them.
Where and when are the Aussie titles on?
MA has them listed as Not Awarded

l've bought two new PFR pipes for KX250A5's, on the first one l had to cut off the end that goes into the exhaust port spigot, fit the the pipe in place and re weld it back on. The second l had to extend the stinger end by about 6".  Both performed ok once modified :-)
