Title: QVMX, Race day at Mt Tamborine
Post by: worms on September 08, 2008, 04:12:16 pm
Here we go again, the 21st Sept will see us racing at Mt Tamborine for the 2nd time this year, if you are not familiar with this track it's a classic grass track suited to all era's of bikes, as allways with the club we don't race for points, it's just about racing with your mates. Hope you all have recovered from the Conondale Classic and are ready for another great race day.

As allways camping overnight is welcomed, and any help with track set-up much appreciated. Please do not forget club guidelines if camping over.

Cheers Trev

Cooler temps?? hey Trev it is set for 29 on Saturday and 28 on Sunday? so what do you call cooler?

Do you know if Brian is going to use the tree section again (like last years race) that was the best track I had run on down there.

See you Sunday

I'm with you Shane, unfortunately the best rack at Tambo was the one I did/nt get past practice on, so hopefully Brian will do the same again. Nice uphills instead of the flat dusty stuff. I might go down to help as well.

Yep Brian did his leg in the late afternoon during setup and I did the shoulder, ribs and lung the next morning, overall not bad ..5 broken bones and a deflated lung and two men in hospital before the racing even started.. who says we don't play hard. It was a class track though and the light rain the day before made it beeuatiful :P

Here's a quick weather update for those attending this race tomorrow.
This track is close to me and heavy rain has been pissing down here for the past hour; lightning, thunder etc.
The rain has now stopped but the track should be nice and damp at least through the morning.

A fantastic day put on by the QVMX club!  Really enjoyed it and first time riders were made extremely welcome - thanks!  Looking forward to the AGM ride and 2009 season...just need to tune this vintage body up a bit - seems to have a serious miss when on the main jet!!!!  Dust..what dust?  At the back of the pack the breeze had blown the dust away before I got there.

QUOTE:

"and another good showing of 4 strokes with new member to the club Fruity blasting his yamaha tt 350 like it was supercharged and he didnt know where or how to use the brakes."

Trev best old Fruity get himself a pre 85 bike or have we had a new rule change where we can ride pre 90 now. ???

Hmmm... tis a dilemma .
I personally get my nose out of joint when i see a few late models slip through, obviously to encourage rather than discourage riders to the flock, hence i have not said anything.
But when i started in the scene i bought bikes to fit the eras, same as the majority of others.
Should something  diplomatic ,or in a nice way, be said to encourage these guys to purchase the correct bikes?

Great, now with the new "laid back attitude" I can use a 06 ktm 450 till I get my pre 75 bike..sorry it all smells like bullshit to me Trev. In my books a near miss is as good as a mile.. I know the Fruit guy would be quick on anything but I find it hard to see that rules are bent for the select few.

How true Andrew, I (for club days) don't mind at all and Brad you are way to fast on the bikes you ride as it is so have nothing to worry about!! next you will wanting age restrictions on the riders as some of the 18 year olds ride to fast :D :D

I could not tell you what model that TT is but it has lights and is an off road bike being ridden very very fast!! lets make him use the indicaters at each turn that will slow him down ;D ;D

I hear what you guys are saying, and i agree its not really an issue in one offs, but at the end of the day laid back or not we are a VMX club that has distinct bike age groups, and we are not allowed to ride up either, so i would say yes to ignoring the odd part on a bike that is not period but to be fair the rule or lack of some rules can be applied to everyone which might mean that out of a 20 bike pre85 lineup 18 could be pre 90 and two pre85 (to exagerate) but you get the idea, once the flood gates are open it gets out of control. Off course the man is like greased lightning on anything but thats not the point really.

Good morning to all.

Have just been reading all the above comments, regarding the riding of non correct era bike. The committee has been made aware of what has happened & corrective action has been taken to fix the issue.

We 'TRUST' the members of our club to ride the correct era bikes, and it is not up to the committee to check what year model bike they are on, and half the time it is hard to tell.
When the problem was brought to the committees attention, we have contacted the affected party and resolved the issue in a correct and non confronting way.
This has happened before, and it was resolved, and now dought it will happen in the future, but we are committed to try to keep to the GCR's where possible, keeping in mind we try to accommodate to our members, eg ( single bike rider, and 4 stroke race for yonger than pre 75).

As we have stressed before, if you have a problem, contact the club committee (phone numbers etc on qvmx web site) and have a talk with us and we will do our best to fix it if we can.

We do not get paid for what we do, and the idea of vintage motocross, is to be able to ride old bikes in a fun and hassle free enviroment.

So I hope to see everybody at the agm to have a great final ride for the year, and to see you all vote in the new committee.

cheers
