I had a book or magazine years ago which had a Amal to Mikuni jet conversion chart in the back. You still had to do the testing to get the jetting right but it gave you a heads up and a good starting point.
If anyone knows if this type of chart is still available, or can remember what book or mag it was in that would be a big help.

l'll see if l can find it online, l printed it off for my files. lt also has a comparison between Mikuni hex & round head main jets also. lf you google search 'Mikuni round head conversion' you may find it?

Oops sorry, l just checked, it mentions "Amal style hex jets" not Amal, sorry.

It's not much help I know.… on my maico 440, just in terms of the number stamped on the jet, a MK2 40mm amal compared to a 38mm VM mikuni, the mikuni pilot jet is roughly 100% larger, the amal main jet is about 50% larger.

Thanks, John, Ralph
I'm still hoping I will find that old chart among my collection of books. At the moment I am going through all of my old Classic Bike and Classic Motorcycle mags. If I don't find it there then it'll be back further, I don't throw any on my motorcycle mags or books away so it's got to be here, right.

depends on how many 40 foot containers you will need to wade thru to find it ::)
