Title: 1974 Yamaha Mx 250 spare cdi.

Hi to all, l have an enquirery about why my spare hitachi cdi unit has this black gooei sticky crap comming out of it. I know its a sort of protective goo that covers all of the electronics, but why now and how do l rectify this and or can it be fixed.
