Title: 80 RM 125 stator
Post by: Tomas on October 05, 2018, 04:54:36 pm
Hi everyone
Just would like to know if anyone have any experience(good or bad) with generic(I guess made in PRC) suzuki rm 125 stators like this one https://www.ebay.ie/itm/ElectroSport-ESC8081-OEM-Replacement-Stator-for-Suzuki-RM-and-TM-Models-/162022656083
I had a chance to look at one and only diference I could see was that the generic one does not have timing mark stamped where the plate is bolted to crankcase. I am considering one of these since it is a new item and not a 30-40 years old NOS for 250-300 dollars.  These stators are listed as part that suits many models of RM. I guess only diference would be that  timing has to be set since these stators dont have timing mark. I am considering one for a bike I am building. Bit of mix between 1979-80-81 Suzuki rm 125. Thank you for your advices and opinions.

there are other replacement ignitions electrex and (ol timers has struck)...that are well regarded with good timing instructions. if you phuq it up it may be an expensive fail (hole in piston ...)

The price is right and worth a go …….to get one coil re-wound  would cost you that alone

Thank you. I know that timing is important. I can use a stator from my 79 RM125 to copy the timing mark to have a basic set up and make sure that the coils on the new one are in the same position. I have oem rotor, CDI and ignition coil so it should work fine. It is a very simple stator so only faulty parts could be the coils. Manufacturer offers 1 year warranty.
