Title: oooolllldddd race results
Post by: 80-85 husky on September 10, 2018, 07:53:13 pm: looking thru a folder of race results i found a page from the Mt Despair Supa Challenge in 1984? I see i managed to beat a young G Morris in the Hare n Hound section...woo hoo has made my day. (assuming it is the GMC we know ::))

It was 1981 actually and I kicked you arse in the hillclimb.
The hillclimb was timed going up as well as down and if there was one thing my KLX could do well was go fast downhills :o

Best you don't look at the MX results John

What were you riding that year John?

Post by: 80-85 husky on September 12, 2018, 09:05:37 am: i was on my brand new Husky wr 240 LC Geoff... i hit the hill climb hard, crested the top with the sun in my eyes.. went straight over the top , pulled the front brake on, lost the front end in the wet grass and the whole shebang slid all the way down to the bottom of the hill...picked myself up , saw the track and got going. Missed the whole switchback section on the down hill side!!

Alexandra ran a normal Enduro in 81 and moved to the Super Challenge in 82, not sure how many more they ran but I only rode the one.
By 82 my KLX would have had the 290 kit fitted

Perhaps you didn’t finish the race you entered in 1981 until 1982?

Suppressed memory
We were supposed to watch the flagman to drop the flag for the start but dickhead me was watching the wrong flagman, was wondering why everyone was jumping the start then realized I had been left behind.
It was hard work coming from behind on the KLX
