Title: When si 1000mm measured like 930mm

Hi All. Bought some 8mm fuel line from an online Aussie supplier, and ordered 1 metre.

Pulled it out of the bag after their free overnight shipping from Sydney last Friday till when it turned up today in Melbourne and all I can measure is 930mm.

What is the accepted shrinkage on chinesium fuel line these days? Should I rub it a little, stroke it gently or talk dirty to it?

get them to send the missing mm with their free o/n postage ;D

Yeah cvt does tend to shrink a bit. Could be heat or stretch or just lousy measuring.
When selling hose by the metre of which you pay a premium for, we would cut over the mark for such reasons. All hose and poly react to heat and needs to be adjusted for in fitting so it doesnt pull off the fittings in cold weather. Long runs of poly should be snaked.

Tell them to send you 1M against consumer law to give you less

Its common in the metal game, try to buy a 2mm thick sheet of steel, Verniers say only 1.9mm
1.2 comes in at 1.1 and 1mm comes in at 0.9mm etc

For all the tonnes they sell they can stretch out the number of sheets per tonne by this 'skimming' practice.

They probably do but why is it never plus, only ever minus
Also consistently minus so why not consistently make it the right size?

Some aluminium tubes are plus or minus 10% which is a pain as every other batch is a slightly different size

I struggle to see a tolerance on a metre of 8mm fuel line though.
