With the phasing out of leaded fuel in competition looming in 2019, here's a short survey in an attempt to gauge numbers of those who still use it in competition (classic MX/DT). Results will be forwarded to MA for consideration. There is a deadline, so please ask as many as possible who feel it's relevant to them to respond. In addition, should any CMX/DT club wish to contribute please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

I have no need for leaded fuel in either my GSXR1000 racebike, Honda CR500 or modern 450 fourstroke.

At over $4.00 a Litre it has become too expensive to use. Even for a octane boost after adding 2 Stroke oil.
It is great in air cooled 2 stokes to stop deternation in aspecialy big bore Yamahas and Suzukis.
We have used in our Maicos to stop slight pinging in the Mide Range under full thottle.
Other benefits are better Cooling and better Thottle response.
Going to be a big problem for 2 stroke Road race bikes as meany use 100 LL or RF 100.
But there are many alturnitives avaidable . Some Legal and Some Not.

I was told by a Shell rep not to use what at that time was called Shell Optimax. I think it is 98 or 99 RON. Shell themselves said it is not compatible with two stroke oils because it was designed for fuel injected cars. I always use the 95 Ron fuels in my Maico.

been running BP pump gas for 10 years, no problems. arguing to still have lead in fuel (any fuel) is something no one can win.

Yes i have heard that some Modern Fuels do not mix with some 2 stoke oils.
An old trick is to mix thinners with the oil first. For example Acetone, Xylene ,etc.
Always mix only as much as you need and mix well.
We use only BP 98 with Motul 800 in the Maicos . And BP 98 in our Honda CRF 450,s
