Why not get a paid photo bucket account and have the login info so everyone can post pics again. I am happy to give a few $ now and then to help cover costs or you can sell some banner spots? Restro projects with no pic just don't work.
-
Good idea, except I’d be loath to support photobucket in any way. (What would they do next? Double the charge?)
There are other similar sites, but I’d be concerned they might also go down the “ransom path” as well.
Many forums are starting to support loading the photos directly (vital MX, Supermoto Junkie to name two - see where my time goes?) Probably requires more “band width/storage/$$. I’d prefer to put money in that direction.

Agreed, Photobucket has me pissed-off but as we all have so many pics there, if we can pay an amount and get them all exposed, I'd be happy.
-
Seems as though they've started to fell the resistance to paying $400us from private users, I got an email today with a price drop to $100us but I still won't be taking that up
I belong to the Trialscentral forum &:users who pay 10gbp a year subscription are able to post photos directly to the site & don't have adverts scattered thru the threads. Would be interesting to know how the owner is able to do this

Theres other free alternatives besides photo bucket.

Yamaico suggested I try IMGUR so I signed up free of charge. I found it easy to upload photos from my computer then copied them and pasted them on here. Works great. Check out my CZ Sidepiper thread, you can see the photos and also see how to use UMGUR. Heaps easier than f#*!bucket and it's free.

I’m concerned other currently free image hosting sites will go the way of “Photo-ransom”.
We can’t pay once and get all our OzVMX pics back. Each individual would have to pay for theirs.
Some, like me, were so pleased with Photobucket, we closed our accounts. I had 10+ years of posting pics on websites. There are probably hundreds of picture-less posts, now meaningless on various bike and other websites.
I think it’s known as “the digital black hole”.
Ironically, there are likely to be a generation of people with a large number of pictures taken, and a small number available to view.
“Dad, why have we got no pictures of me when I was a kid?”
“They were all on a laptop that died. I’m sorry.”
“What’s a laptop?”

Just tried IMGUR - easy as AND you can upload multiple images

Some of us are tech savvy some of us just dont get it. Thats the way it is and thats fine .
Whatever system is implimented, some members will have issues with it no matter how simplified it seems to others, thats being human.
Photofukkit has changed and even though you can bypass the block with a plugin to view the pics, the website is so full of advertisemenst that it is difficult to navigate let alone upload or work with in any way. Crap hit the fan when Newscorp bought it out and has since sold it . Either way its rooted and you can bet your gravel rashed ass that the fee for a website would be a lot more than for private use and thats got to be a bad idea all round.
There is the option of having more server space added to this site and the add ons for tools to upload are readily available but that also comes at a cost and many members ont be able to get thier head around uploading and what ever so why would you do that?
Probably the best idea would be to locate a free hosting site abd there are many that is relatively easy to use , like fotofukkit use to be, then have a sticky post in the intro section explaining how and where . Thats free and just as easy and just as difficult as any option available.

Easy for Shane .... I'm flat out using my bloody I pad ...... take a snap shot they say. WTF that

Exactly Stewy, Even a simple single button named add picture poses drama for some when asked by the computer what picture and whats its name?
There isnt an easy answer as there are rules to follow because we are in effect, asking a computer to translate our commands then translate the computer language back to the screen so we can understand it.
Drag and drop with auto resize add on for websites would be wonderful but I dont think its going to happen soon

Funny. And on topic!

I use IMGUR.
(I find it) easy to use, although you have to resize photos every session.
As long as they don't go down the ransom route, they'll be fine. I'm not averse to paying for the service, but not $400!
-
For OZVMX to have an account for everyone to use may be an option but paying there ransom fee once would not open up every ones account
I think there are still free or cheap options to be used long before Pissbucket should receive any payment.
Its almost unusable with its adds, and isn't it supposed to be that you pay for a service to avoid adds or you go the free service that has adds? But instead PB want you to pay for a service that is clogged with adds. :o
I imagine they didn't get a lot of people paying there ransom fee as I keep getting all sorts of offers emailed to me for cheap plans, little do they realize my photos still seem to be able to be viewed on this site, unless they only show up for me?
