My wife purchased this bike for me a few years ago it was in the condition you love to find them. The bike was complete right down to the original clamps and even a set of new Barum tyres still wrapped in the original tape. Since then it has sat in my shed waiting it’s turn.

I started the build by getting the forks rechromed and the frame powder coated. The fork bottoms and triple clamps were then polished and the forks rebuilt.

The seat was in great condition so just a clean and wax conditioner for it. The tank was also in good nick so, after trying to find the correct colour, I was pointed to a paint company that had the right one by Tony27 on the OZVMX forum. Tony among others has been a big help with information for this build. I contacted a local paint company whose rep managed to find me a complete set of colour swatches, which were mainly for Fiat cars, but had every colour they had ever made and from them I selected the colour I believe to be right. I had the paint tinted ready and a bit later I prepared and painted it.

I had my son-in-law cut out a heat shield for the exhaust from stainless steel on a water jet cutter then I rolled it to the correct shape and fitted the brackets to hold it in place. I repaired the chamber, removed a few dents and then I had the header pipe and chamber rechromed along with the kick starter, gear lever, handlebars and a heap of other bits and pieces, as well as getting other stuff zinc plated.

The fibreglass inner guard / airbox was repaired and painted along with the rear fender.

I powder coated a heap of smaller parts using my do it yourself home powder coating system.

The original foot pegs were solid mounted with no spring back so I fabricated a new mount and purchased a quality set of flip back pegs, powder coated then fitted them.

The front guard was rough so I had to scrape all of the dry flaky shit off it then sand it with finer and finer wet and dry and then polished it and gave it a coat of clear.

The wheels have been the biggest problem with the whole build. I purchased a set of stainless Buchanan spokes from USA which I was not happy with. When it came time to lace the wheels, the heads of the spokes were bigger than the originals and this caused a bit of anxiety but my mate who laced the rims for me has found this problem before and found a way around it. I searched for a couple of years for the correct colour for the hubs. Again heaps of help from forum members even had a member Scootern29 who lives in USA go to the trouble of buying a can of paint which was close from a local supplier, painting a swatch for me and sending it to me in Australia free of charge. Thanks again Scott hopefully one day I will be able to repay the favour. Many of the colours were close but I am really fussy and like to get things right, so I went to a local auto paint supplier checked most of their colour cards, had a few tins tinted and eventually, after spending a heap of money, found what I believe is as close to being right as is possible. It is a 2 to 1 mix of the last 2 tins I had tinted so, if I can manage to get some photos up and you think like me that the colour is right then I have all the info you will need to get your own tinted.

Just started on the motor, seems to be in great condition, still on standard bore which shows no sign of wear. The bottom end is also great so a bullet dodged there. I might get away with replacing the seals all around and hopefully have it finished for the show and shine weekend in March.
As I do more I will try to update this post with a few more pictures. ( That is if I have managed to get some to stick this time.
p.s. I have probably about 4 or 5 ltrs of different coloured golds in my spray booth more than I will ever use.

Added a few more bits over the last couple of days, still waiting for some bits to arrive.

This model doesn't have a cover over the front drive sprocket so I had to fabricate one
(https://i.imgur.com/aWy6Qzz.jpg)
Added the chain, coils, seat, tank, rear brake rod plus other stuff

Well, it's done! Fitted new levers finished the cables, made and fitted a more correct rear brake rod and pushed out into the back lane for a couple of photos.

So now a bit of a wash and polish and it's ready to go.

Just spent the best part of 2 friggin hours trying to get this bastard to work but it don't look like the f#*^ing photos are going to work. I can see them but I doubt that anyone else will. Let me know if you can see the bloody things. I'm friggin over this.
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THIS POST, I AM A COMPUTER WIZZ.
Not really, but I have managed to get most of the bloody photos on, so do feel like I have achieved at least one thing for the day.
Zane
Well that proved to be bullshit but thanks to Yamaico Pet I have managed to get them back on again using IMGUR, it's easier than photobucket, it's free and it works
-
I can see each photo for about 2 seconds , then it gets covered with an advert, or a message to pay the $399 dollar subscription.
using Microsoft edge , haven't tried other browsers

You need the Photophucket Hotlink plugin
if your using chrome use this and just click the button to add it.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hl=en
Photophucket website sucks now as its full of adds and the servers are so laggy, Atleast that plugin will let you see linked pics.
When adding a pic to a post use the IMG code and the pic will display in the post. Code should look like this
[IMG]http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac276/zane255/CZ%20Hubs%2011_zpslshm8j6l.jpg[/IMG]

I can only see Pokeys pic when i am using Firefox with a plug in.
all the other photos in the opening post eg
http://s907.photobucket.com/user/zane255/media/CZ%20Rebuild%20parts%2013_zpsuhgdmrsy.jpg
dont appear to be inserted in the image tags. That may be the problem
click the image icon below the B (BOLD) button and try inserting the above address inbetween the tags
so like this
(http://s907.photobucket.com/user/zane255/media/CZ%20Rebuild%20parts%2013_zpsuhgdmrsy.jpg.html)
well thats was good it just leaves a blank for me. >:( Pokey has exlained it though and shown the IMG tags.
Photos bucket is way too hard these days. Theres better options i am sure. I say ditch it and use something else easier/less restrictive.
I was wondering this thread would be better in the CZ section and not 'general section'
http://forum.ozvmx.com/index.php?board=6.0
maybe mods can shift it there?

Ok i am in Chrome now and many of your photos are showing up but a few were not, eg the one directly under this
I started the build by getting the forks rechromed and the frame powder coated. The fork bottoms and triple clamps were then polished and the forks rebuilt.
but i expect it will show in Firefox. I am guessing that your have posted some slightly different?
Just viewed this thread in Firefox and all pics show for me. Its just a few that dont show in Chrome but i am fine with that.

Hi Alan.
I am self taught, my skills have been honed over almost 60 years of owning and working on bikes. I purchased my first welder in 1969 and then I learned how to use it and that is basically how I work. It helps if you have mates with the skills you need, painting, machining etc, specially if they are prepared to let you watch and learn.
Thanks Alison for the kind words, not sure I agree. When I look at some of the bikes displayed at CDs and the OZVMX resto expo we have a lot of very competent builders in Australia.

I assume this is the thread you have been updating your pictures to, both your computer skills and resto skills are coming along nicely

Thanks Geoff, sometimes I look at the computer and think, this bloody thing knows more about me than I know about it.

sometimes I look at the computer and think, this bloody thing knows more about me than I know about it.
When I try to text on my phone it's always trying to preempt what I want to say and comes up with all sorts of illogical gobbledy gook.
Maybe my phone knows I just talk a lot of shit :o

I added a couple more photos of the CZ onto my first post on this thread and waiting for some parts to finish it. One of the things that really piss me off are sellers who don't send the item quickly after the purchase. Classic example is the seller I purchased some parts off for this build, hoping to have finished in time for the Expo in March. I bought and paid for them on the 23rd December last year, when they hadn't arrived by the latest delivery date quoted by the seller (25th January 2018) I contacted them to see if the parcel had a tracking number. They sent me the details including the number and after checking I found that they had just sent the parcel on the 31st January 2018 which is 40 f#^king days after I paid for them. Now the bastards want me not to give them bad feedback, like that's going to happen.

This build is now completed. I have added a couple of photos of the finish project to my original post in this thread.
So the herd is almost ready for the Resto Expo next month just a bit of tidying up and they're ready to go.
