Hi all,
I have a Husky ML series frame (ML 27897) from a 1978 CR 250 / 390 that has tapered steering head bearings. I will (hopefully) be using this frame to rebuild a Yamaha 500 engined special to replicate one that I build back in the early 1980's. I will by fitting a set of Yamaha YZ465G front forks and triple clamps so I would like to know the ID of the bearings used in the Husky frame. I have been told that All Ball tapered steering head bearing kit No. 22-1032 will fit into this series of Husky frame. Can anyone confirm that bearing kit 22-1032 is the correct bearings for the ML Husky frame? Also, I can't find any references to bearing sizes on All Balls web site. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions are of the bearings in the 22-1032 kit are?

Don't waste your money on All Balls junk. Go to a bearing service & buy Timken L44610-20024 bearing (cone) & L44600LA-902B6 cup.

Thanks, BigK,
I just looked up the bearings suggested and they are imperial bearings, I would have expected a Husky to have metric sized bearings?

Colin, there should be bearing sizes for each part numbers on All balls site. If you cant find them, PM me with your email address and i will send you all the kit part numbers and bearing sizes for All Balls.

I have had a look at the Steering bearing size chart om the All Ball web site, but none of the part numbers listed on the chart correspond to the kit number 22-1032, and the description of the kit doesn't list what the part number of the actual bearings are.

Big K is correct. The Timkens are what Husky uses. I have fitted many a set to my restorations. They fit.

22-1032 kit contains
upper - 1"-1.98"-.56"
lower - 1"-1.98"-.56"
this chart does not appear to list the indvudual part numbers for those bearings with that size but if you wanted to know you could email them and they will respond

Thanks all, for your time. I will go and see the local bearing joint and get a set of the Timken bearings.
