WHATS THE BEST STUFF TO SEAL UP A SPLIT IN A PLASTIC TANK????
-
also add the words 'cost effective'
there are tank liners for plastic tanks but I can get another tank for half the price which is probably my answer for the best repair. I've tried Araldite (works like magic on metal tanks!) and I've tried plastic tank sealer stuff but it leached through and eventually fails as Mainline experienced last weekend ;)

plastic weld it clarkey. Thats if ya can be stuffed. if one bit split that means the plastic has gone to "DOG" and I would be looking for a replacement rather than chasing my tail trying to fix the f%$^#ked

The thought of a tank spilling its guts onto a blistering hot engine and pipe while tearing down the main straight does'nt sound good, roasted chestnuts come to mind.. ::) if the split is bottom half I would toss the sucker in the bin...

THE SPLIT IS AT THE FRONT OF THE TANK. WHERE THE FORK CUT OUTS ARE,ITS NOT ON ANY SEAMS ETC AND IS ONLY ABOUT 1CM OR SO. ITS A SHAME ITS A GOOD LOOKING TANK. I JUST PICKED UP ANOTHER ON EBAY IN THE US, I MIGHT GET IT WELDED AT A LATER DATE.

hmmm..yours sounds more like a split from the forks hitting it at some time in it's life. Mine was from the tank drying out. In your case probably quite weldable but when I look closely at my tank it's crazed all over to some extent. Shame as it was a decent looking tank also :-\

Clarkey - whats it cost to get a tank shipped from the US?
-
$40 US NOT TO BAD, ALL UP I PAID $85 US WITH THE TANK. THE TANK CAME WITH CAP, FUEL TAP ETC.
STILL LOOKING FOR A SPARE ONE?? AS I HAVE THREE RMs WITH THE SAME TANK.
