Title: Magnesium waterpumps

Got a couple CR's that have the dredded magnesium water pumps, just wondering if it is worth using liquid intelligence for bikes that may get ridden once or twice a year or just use distilled water and drain after ridding and leave dry.

use a waterless coolant like evans i think they recommend. mine now has a billet cover to stop the rot.

I used Liquid intelligence in my '83 CR and it seemed to slow the process. Like Hoony though, I ended up getting an alloy cover for peace of mind.

does anyone know what coolant Honda recommended when these CRs were new ?
never had one of these bikes, but if I did I would probably use a 50-50 mix of water + good antifreeze with corrosion inhibitors and drain between rides
there is a lot of mixed reviews of Evans Waterless Coolant { and similar products } some people love it, and some people  finding engines running hotter when Evans etc. are used

My DT200r runs 11 degrees hotter with liquid intelligence, ran back to back tests on the road on the same day. I compared Liquid intelligence to distilled water and coolant.

That backs up a lot of peoples results when using Evans etc. In cars & bikes , some people are getting increases a lot more than 11 degrees 
but it shouldn't be surprising as most of these "waterless" coolants are just about 100% Glycol , which doesn't transfer heat as well as water .
This is probably why motor manufacturers ( and antifreeze manufacturers) generally recommend 50/50  mixes, up to a maximum of 65% antifreeze / 35% water
Personally I wouldn't be changing anything on a bike/ car etc. Which caused it to run at a higher temperature 
( but this is just my opinion, other opinions are available)

I haven’t taken any temp readings or scientific proof but I would have to say that my CR ‘appears’ to run cooler with the LI than when I was running socool.
