hoping for a little assistance. got a 2010 kato 300 exc and looking to rereg it..ive had it ffrom new so i have all the bits. tailight and brake lights are not working neither is the headlight (the blue high beam indicator still comes on.
headlight is probably globe and easy to test but the tailight is a 1 peice unit (no replaceable globe) and is 140 bucks!!
the battery is still the original unit been sitting for 18 months flat as...probably should replace it...would this kill all the lights?
i might put the charger on it and see if it resurects enough ...everything should work, std wiring
any suggestions?

To understand the wiring We really do need a diagram to understand how its wired. Many bikes use the battery as a kind of ballast to smooth out the flow of sparky things. a rectifier may also be present so your lights get DC and not AC from the stator.. I would just grab a new battery as you will need it for items like flashers and horn as they run on DC , unlike lights that can run either.
assuming the wiring has not been butchered Id say the battery is the answer to your issues.

No. battery has SFA to do with the system. You have a genny that feeds a reg/rec and then on to the accessories and another branch to the start relay and battery.
As I read it, Battery is only there to supply juice for the starter and probably static lighting for current registration requirements on moderns.

Battery is not part of the lighting system for the KTM. The wiring is relatively simple on those. You'll sort it easy enough.
