Title: American Eagle
Post by: 211 on August 17, 2017, 07:38:47 am
on the way to the nationals I found an American Eagle engine and tank - Sprite?
The engine is around 400cc at a guess, sand cast and really interesting (its in the car...)
does anyone have any info in these things? I think this is the same engine as the Alron 400 but not sure - any clues?

Alron or Sprite 211 , should look similar to Husqvarna .
Hope we see finished product.

over the last 30 years of VMX involvement I dont think I have come across an American eagle but further to the above where I found and engine (405) then on sold it to a collector out west I just found the rolling chassis. its weird how things go sometimes......

I want the front wheel for my AJS stormer project but have 2 tanks, seat, frame and real wheel, forks, rusty guards (good for a pattern) etc - essentially a roller without the front wheel that I want. Is there any interest in whats left?

Also - the rear tyre is an early 70s UK made Dunlop that is unused, a little crusty but more than suitable for the museum resto of a bike of that period not wanting to use modern tyres.

send me a PM if you have any interest.

interesting foot note to this - I found a rolling frame on Dumbtree and bought it for the front wheel - wish I kept the engine now... but the rolling frame came my way and unusually it has new early 70s original rubber, English Dunlops. I kept the front wheel for an AJS project and sold the rest and today took wheel out of the rolling frame to find that the wheel was brand new. Internally the shoes were mint, no dust no nothing. This bike has never turned a wheel under power, the brakes have never been used, the rear is the same - mint. (bike looks like crap)
How is it that an American Eagle has wound up like this???
at some stage somehow a bike never got used but must have been a source of parts for some reason..
No if only I had kept that 405 engine......
