This is me on my G from back in the day... I killed it by the end of the season.. Time to revive some memories and fix one of the old girls up...

Great pic!
The main reason most of us are involved with VMX - sentimentality

Ha, great pics of yours too.. Noticed your restored bike is in better condition than your "new" bike from back in the day. We used to flog them back then.. Crashes, racing, practicing.. My g did about a million hours... Ripped seat, bent forks, seized engine, blew a hole in exhaust, sacked out the shock, low speed coil woes, plastics worn out... Bike cost 1500 new and I couldn't believe my luck when I got 750 for it 12 months later...
So, bound to be an old girl out there somewhere.....

Well, I think I found what I was after. A 1980 yz125g that is one owner and only done between 10-15 hours. All original including plastics, grips, tyres, bars.. Etc. Even has the weird rubber throttle cover.
Another "barn find".
It didn't come cheap though and wasn't a bargain in a monetary sense. The bargain is in the originality of the bike.
It's dirty and looks 37, but under that grime is a nearly new bike.
I have whacked a deposit on her, and am now organising transport. They all seem to be about 750 door to door from Adelaide to Perth.
Hopefully this old girl will be in my workshop soon...

well done!

Got a door to door quote for 599. Noticed the sprocket and levers are not originals.. Anyone gave a 48t alloy Oem sprocket. They had the 6 oval slots. Newer style has the slots slightly irregular.
Old girl should be here in 2 weeks.

post up some pics, we all want to see her.

Well, she doesn't look much, but it's hard to find a 37 year old G that hasn't been worn out and then rebuilt. This one was supposedly used for about 15 hours and then put away. Check out the huge original bars. The seat cover, fork boots, plastics, tyres etc are all in good original condition. The tyres are the ones from brand new and the front still has the Bridgestone grooves on top of the knobs. I have noticed the levers were swapped out and the rear sprocket was changed..perhaps because it was a farm bike. The original front number plate is still on, but it's decayed. Even the original rubber throttle boot survived and the side stand is still fitted. Apparently still on original piston and rings.

She will need a full rebuild back to Oem show room condition.

That's an awesome find.
Good Job. 8) 8)

Thanks guys..
She is getting the full monty. Mechanical and cosmetic restoration. I have my race yz125k. This one will be a looker. I just found an Oem 48t exact alloy sprocket in new packet in Germany. And found the funky levers they used back then. Going to be a fun project..

Well, looks like Photobucket caught up with me. Got the email for 400US which i wont be held ransom to. Am looking at options now and will start a new build thread on the YZ125G with a new third party pic account.

Thanks Tony,
I just started using my OneDrive account which is part of my Hot Mail account. Easy to use as well. Haven't tried it with a phone, but with a PC its really easy. Should of done it from the beginning. PhotoBucket was always dodgy with their ads etc.. used to make my computer grind..
Cheers,
