Getting any practice in on a MX bike is very difficult these days.
The local track runs practice like a race day. Most of the day is sitting around waiting for your "turn".

If I had somewhere I could just show up, ride till I was "finished" (2 x 5 min sessions ATM) and go home, I'd buy a new MX bike. (To go with the 2 I ride now, very occasionally.)

What makes you think this will be any different.  The local tracks will probably use MA insurance so they can't mix Junior and Senior and will have a limit on the numbers on the track at one time.  You also can't mix the age groups of Juniors so it will be Junior 50s and 65s, then Junior 85/150 and maybe Junior Lites, then at least one lot of Senior riders.  The only thing that will make it better is that there are three tracks.  However limited space will probably mean they will be very Stadium MX/SX orientated.

Yes.
I'm living in the past, where I could go to the track any day and just ride around.
Before double jumps etc, we could mix speeds/ages on the track with just the smallest amount of courtesy and common sense. Oh, I see where I'm going wrong.

Just a crazy old man, living in the past.

I think the problem is each sport gets it's own facilities and that gets very expensive and there is a lot less tracks, clubs and generally places to ride like back in the 70's
I have often thought that certain sports could share the same facilities like Aussie Rules, Soccer , Rugby League and Rugby Union could use the same facilities and it would certainly be cheaper. Now my suggestion is that there is a hell of lot of Golf Courses around Australia and some of them have course lighting so the course could be used at night. The answer is obvious to me that golf and VMX would go hand in hand, we can also make the course more challenging for the Golfer.

In the old days noise was the issue too, you could only get 15-25 minutes in before the cops turned up and you had to flee (just kidding)

Every time I see a golf course I always think "how much fun it would be to ride it"

Golf courses are doing it tough now so we just need to hang in there for a bit and one might go bust ,cue the bikes
