Hey all,
Im working on a 81 RM250X and am interested to see how you all restore the triple clamps. The Suzuki ones are similiar to all jap brands with a silvery satin finish.
Ive cleaned mine up, structurally they are in good shape but have the usual wear and tear marks and scratches. Is this something to be soda/hydro blasted back and re painted? If so any idea of the type or finish of the paint.
Cheers

The triple clamps on your RM were originally painted champagne gold metallic.
Go to an automotive paint supplier and ask for colour 'Suzuki 35P' (it is the same as suzuki bike colour 08C) or you should also be able to get it using DuPont/Spies Hecker #90595. Places like Autobahn and Supercheap Auto etc can also mix up and put it in a spray can for you too. I use a satin/matte 2pack clear over top for bit more durability and chemical resistance.

Whilst on the question of painting, im thinking bead blasting would be the best way to remove the old paint ? Thoughts ?

On triples bead blasting will work fine on aluminium it will come off easy I have done plenty of trees in my bead blasting cabinet.
