How hard would it be to convert an '80 WR390 into an Auto?
Thinking a complete motor or complete bottom end/box/cases swap?
-
only the top ends interswap tony, the rest is different. even the cranks are different for the autos.
-
Yep sorry that's what I meant......
I have a complete WR390 and figured if I could find an auto motor, less the top end, I'd be good to go?
Of course the next question is, how hard is it to find an auto motor?
-
they are about, get onto the Café Husky website, one of the guys has started an auto register thread.
there is a guy in qld who put an auto into a 2005 husky frame a few years ago. interesting bike, he got onto the aussie husky auto guru (slips my mind his name it does) and got some good info. You ever ridden one? I love em.

No I haven't but the moons have aligned and I have a complete spare 390 needing a rebuild so why not mix it up!
-
lots of little tricks to find out about autos...café husky will give you the full picky on what you need to know. Pretty sure they should drop straight in to the wr frame
-
Peter Andrew is the master of building them.. Rob Shoemark and Pete are East Coast gurus..
-
one of the café husky punters is flogging some autos

Hmmm if my French is any good, and it's not, it looks like 84/86 stuff?

Auto good manual bad :-)
The 390 is the easiest auto, search ebay long and hard and you will find the parts , do lots of different searches and often is my advice.
