Title: 17" tyres

Can anyone tell me the best option for a 17 tyre for my 240? It's also missing a spoke - are they available?

Best option is an 18 inch rim. Much more tyre choice than 17's. 17's were a short lived idea. I run the Dunlop K190 5.10 17" on my 82 430

There are at least 1/2 a dozen brands to choose from in 17" tyres, how much choice does one need? Sure an 18" wheel/rim will give you more choice but that's an expensive exercise any way you look at it.
There are a few different spokes in the rear wheel, workout exactly which one you need before you source one (I may have a used one).

that would have to be allright size wize. you don't want to overtyre it. depends what yr riding in...rocks, sand mud?? good grippy ground might go a smaller size to allow more wheelspin and better turn in.

i fitted a veerubber tyre on my 17 rear wheel.. the rim is 17 X 2.15, the tyre it's 110 X80..nice oldstyle knobby design and cheap price.. i guess it's a good tyre for muddy\soft soil

Depends on what you intended use is. There are a few 17" motocross tyres out there. Can't recommend any as I don't use them.
If your game is Vinduro, then I Can recommend the Mitas 644 Army Special (was the old Trelleborg Army Special).
This is available in 17", and is road legal here in the UK. I have been using these on all my Vinduro bikes for a few years now. They are very soft and grippy, seem to last forever.
BUT, they will not be making any more. Apparently the molds have been scrapped and they will discontinue the 17" when stocks run out.

Mick...the spoke is the one right of rim centre and sits underneath on the sprocket side. Is there anywhere I can get a workshop manual for this bike?

I found a parts manual online but no luck with a workshop manual yet. I need an oil filler cap if anyone has a spare one for sale? I think I'll go with the Pirelli tyre.
