Title: Mounting a Mikuni carb on my 75 KTM 250
Post by: Tahitian_Red on January 18, 2017, 04:33:14 am
Anyone have problems making this conversion?  I will use a 34mm Mikuni and trim the intake manifold 15-20mm.  Any jetting specs?

Thanks!  :)

Running a 36mm bing with new slide/needle/needle jet etc. 76 MC5 250 runs like a champion.

OK.  What is the best place to find rebuild kits and new slides for a Bing 54?  :)

At this stage it depends on the model Bing you are running.
A type 2 Bing 54 (eg 54/38/106 stamping etc, ~42mm dia slide, slide stamp  # 220 or 230 etc), Andre at Enduro Klassiker can sort you out.
If its the earlier type 1 (eg 2/36/102 stamping etc , ~40mm dia slide, slide stamp #1 or #2 etc), i am waiting on a reply from Andre for availability of parts through him for these. Else you can try Al Beuhner at pentonpartsusa.com
I am about to rebuild a type 1 for a guy, hence seeing if available from andre as i am after type 2 parts as well for myself.

It is a Type 1  :(   Will a Type 2 work on the '74-'76 KTM 250's?

Yes a Type 2 will work .    For example 54/36/123.  Maico carb.

    Slide 230, main 180/185, Pilot 65/70 .

If you change types you will probably have to change the intake manifold. I have come across three types. A flush fit from carby to manifold (type 1 ?) ,a plastic sleeve between carby and manifold (MC5) and then the later rubber connection to the manifold.
