I'm lookin' for the rule in the 2016 MMS that says you cannot have barkbusters on an MX bike - can someone point me to the rule number?
-
2017 Moms don't mention it in the Classic MX section, but in moderns it states
12.25.5.6 Solo handlebar hand lever protectors:
a) Must be single mounted for
Motocross and Supercross,
b) May be double mounted on
machines in club and Inter-club
natural terrain Motocross events
-
Thanks, so they should be ok for the state "old mx" clubs -- the ones that have modern 2 smoker class -- saves taking them on and off
-
Barkbuster style hand guards (where they are mounted in the end of the bars and clamped to the bars near the triple clamps) can only be fitted at Club and Interclub NATURAL TERRAIN MOTOCROSS meetings, every other MX event would require the single mounted hand guards (either fitted to clutch/brake perch or new style that clamps to the bars)

outlawed in dirt track

Evo550, respectfully disagree, it's only the first 9 chapters of the MOM's that apply to everything and after that each discipline is a "standalone" set of rules - sensible and makes them easier to read and refer to, for example fuel requirements are repeated in each discipline and are not referred back to a "master chapter", so by the MOM's barkbusters are okay in both Vintage and Dirt Track.
(And would be happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but that's my reading of the rulebook – and it's interesting to see in the introductory chapter of the MOM's that MA do not want "rulebook racing", they would prefer to have a commonsense approach – and I wholeheartedly agree)

Sorry, by this I thought you meant Vets in modern MX. All good.

:o 20 years ago maybe I could have had a go in modern MX vets – now it's over 60's and yep the guys who were upfront 20 years ago are still upfront........

you dont stop riding because you get old
you get old because you stop riding
why do you want bark busters
are there tree branches on mx tracks
happy new year son ftw al

obviously haven't followed a big bore 4 stroke :)

SERIOUSLY?
Why would you want to run any sort of "barkbuster" on an MX bike other than being too lazy to take them off your enduro bike and plug the end of the handlebar? You don't even need to buy new grips anymore so you can't use $$ as an excuse.
I'd rather have to change my bar setup than clean an airfilter any day. I HATE cleaning airfilters but I ALWAYS clean my airfilter after EVERY ride.....
