Title: RE: Yamaha mx 250b gearbox bearing
Post by: cwanedwiver on December 12, 2016, 05:36:46 pm
Hello can someone help???
Rebuilding yamaha mx 250b, the shaft that goes through gearbox and into clutch hub has a bearing with c clip and a retaining plate, the bearing in question has a metal sheild on the inner gearbox side on the oem one, the only bearing i can get has the metal sheild on the opposite side, so it is on clutch side, NLA from yamaha but the bearing is readily available from bearing shop, i tried to pry sheil out of bearing but destroyed it:::  What effect will the sheild have if its on the wrong side of bearing, both sides of bearing are in oil cheers

i'm in  ::),if theres sufficient oiling grooves/spacers whatforkingever for the inside section of the clutch shaft, usually they (yamaha) have scrolling on the hardened sleeve,so thats no biggie, can't imagine why it would make a difference,as you say both are in oil, maybe it keeps the box/gears section more in oil??,but hey,you doing 40min moto's??,cheers  :P

have you tried Speed and Sport for the correct bearing?
