Looking for an aftermarket exhaust for 77-79 TS250. RHS UP pipe. I know Torque Engineering had them and i am lead to believe J&R did as well. Spoke to an ebay seller in USA last week and he said he had hundreds of NOS Torque and J&R pipes and probably did have the TS250 one i am after but they are all sold now and i am a number of years too late. So someone else out there probably has one. I have never even seen a photo one so if anyone has a photo that would still be a great help at this stage. Also any magazine ads or catalogue listings for pipes for this model. Torque usually had a a couple heat shields held on with 2 screws. J&R, welded on mesh with smaller holes than Bassani. I could probably ID the pipe by photos if you had something you were not sure what its from.
$100 finders fee on offer that leads to the capture of one of these plus top dollar paid for the pipe in any condition considered.
Thanks
This page is from '79 JC Industries Catalogue i have. No Whisperin Smith version listed but that does not necessarily mean one was not made.

is there a historical factor in this search? as ol mate could make you a neat pipe if desired.
-
Yeah, yeah i know i can get one made, and it might be the long term solution, but i just don't have time right now to ship half a bike interstate to GMC but it might get that eventually. I sort of have started prepping a spare frame and hollow engine for that.

Best bet for that type of pipe is to post a want ad on vintagemx.us I've seen plenty and bought a few over the years.

a mate had a ts 250 yonks ago and he had a strange pipe on ot. cant remember the brand. wasn't a bassani or tourque. might have been an EDC??

Might be of some help . http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Yamaha-Suzuki-Kawasaki-250-360-400-Strader-Expansion-Chamber-70s-Vintage-MX-NOS-/391624457353?hash=item5b2ea2fc89:g:JT8AAOSwal5YK80e

My Strader listing does not list any TS250 pipes. I have asked that seller what else he has the other day but have not heard back yet.
To me it looks like th header part turns upwards which is strange and it does not look like it would fit. Stock 77 is like this and the header truns down. Much like an RM pipe i guess. Some times its hard to tell if a pipe fits or not because the sellers dont provide a good direct square on side shot of the pipe.

Rocking horse poo..
How are you on the TIG Leith? If you have an old pipe with a decent header thats a start. throw it in a program with peak rpm and theres your dimensions. You have the frame there to check for fit. failing that what about using a RM pipe although it would be tuned for higher peak RPM. if you cant weld Im sure you can form some cones and find a mate close by who can weld.
cant say Ive ever seen an aftermarket chamber for any of the ER series bikes.

I would need to see the front section to know if that pipe fits Noel.
This is Pre ER model Pokey but same shape. Yes i have considered seeing if i could make a RM-A pipe fit but i am sure they are just as hard to find but i will keep it in mind as an option when i get closer to really needing it.250A has same bore x stroke so it would be about right design-wise and would just need cutting and re-joining in several places.
I may even split a stock pipe and take all the baffling out too because these have a lot more in them than just mesh stuck on the inside too. Nothing would look as nice as one made properly for the bike though.

nothing cooler than a hand made pipe I rekon ;)

Here is a photo of what i expect it would look like. This is for a 77-79 TS185 though but i reckon the 250 will look the same. I at least have some idea what it would look like now. The search continues.

I have a hooker pipe that I think is for the side port model - not what your after - but it appears you have a few TS's.

Yeah mine is centerport.
