Does anyone know if 85 or 86 RM250 are pre 85 legal run on models?? They look very much the same but are there changes? :o
-
No because 85 and 86 are disc brake models. You will need a 1984 or older model for pre 85

What if I had a 85 model with a drum front or a pre 85 disc from another model?.....im not trying to open a can here either..haha

No you can not backward convert a pre 90 bike to comply with pre 85. Someone else on here had the same issue. Pre 90 RM but he wanted to ride pre 85 = No go. You can put a disc brake on a 1984 model if it comes from another 84 or or older model though.

84-85 are pretty much identical except for the disc front.

1986 model is completely different to the 1985 model .

If you look at the current MoMS you will see for Pre 78 (yes I know it's not Pre 85) there is follow on models listed. So my interpretation of the rules would be. Unless there is follow up models listed, there is no follow models for Pre 85 or 90.
If you think the Suzukis may comply please submit them to the MA Commission through the MA office, but if there are any changes they are unlikely to be accepted. Also check the parts schematics to see what has changed. Also note change to a front disc is a significant change.

Yeah ok on an 84 (or older) model but not a 85 model though. '85's go in pre 90 class. OP wants to run 85 or 86 model in pre 85.
