Title: Woo Hoo, I can do Youtube
Post by: GMC on October 15, 2016, 04:55:47 pm
I have many films from mid 70's to CD12 for 'show and tell', just need to find time to edit them.

VCM's Stony Creek (Boagys) is coming up in a few weeks and it has long been on my bucket list to ride, so far have only spectated on a few occasions.
So first cab off the rank is some footage I took in 09

Some footage from the televised MX/Buggy series from late 77 / early 78
The track was specially made for the series but it seemed to be universally hated though, the bike riders hated the track that was built more for the buggies and the buggies hated it for being built to suit the bikes however it was decades ahead of its time as there has been bugger all interest in televising MX races since

1.  Who was the girl?
A.  Kay Lawrence

2.  Who is the guy on KX125?
A.  I think you mean KX250, #46 = Garry Wright

3.  Who put boulders on the track?
A.  They grow out of the ground in Broadford

4.  Who is 88 with big hair and Sunraysia big fuel tank?
A.  Couldn't find him in clip #1, only in #clip 2, It's not a Sunraysia tank, it's a PE, our best guess is Alphonse (Fonzie)

5.  Who is Kay Lawrence?
A.  She is now my wife

6.  Did you see Dinsdale #6 (0.7 second view)?
A.  You must have been studying hard to see a Montesa in clip #1, there is another Montesa, #9 in clip #2

7.  Why couldn't KX dude ride fast?
A.  He was wondering why too, I know he didn't like the track.

8.  How cool are those Holden wagons?!
A.  I was only a poor lowly Holden sedan owner

9.  Where is your link for second clip?
A.  You should be able to find all clips here;
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGj52lrr0nRrs2qSvy6k7LA

10.  Why aren't you still in hospital?
A.   That was from late Oct to mid Nov. These events were in Dec through to Feb from memory.
I'm standing in the second clip which must make it Feb 78

11.  How will you cope when racing at Boagy's?
A.   Poorly I expect

Clip one
1.  Did you spot the Maico forks on the KX 250?
2.  I think #65 is Mark Hill
3.  Long haired dude with fag in mouth is Barry Cahir

Yes I too like to study the backgrounds in old movies for cars and fashions.
Although, as can be seen in a couple of those clips I knew nothing of fashion :o

If your into old fashions of days gone by then you might like this clip, no bikes in it but its from the Bendigo Easter parade from 1962 plus some of the township.
We even have some 'racecam' footage from the journey home which looks to me to be around Kyneton

My gawd!!  Did you see how low those bars are on No.2 at Monza?!

Gaston Rahier has a lot to answer for.
(It worked for shorty Rahier - but forces an average height rider to sit down.  And begs rider to take a trip over bars ASAP)

And yes - my bars were down too in late 1970s.  Gosh, but it looks SO ABSURD now.

Ha, you amended your statement, I was wondering why you thought Tits were absurd as I'm still fascinated by them ;D

Hadn't noticed the low bars before, yes they do look low
Not sure who he was

Also, No 65 was Mark Hill and the red suit rider on his bike was his girlfriend

No Hoony, completely different track although in the same area. Can't remember exactly where Deep Creek was now but I think it may have been in the same valley as this place.
One thing I'm sure of though, both these tracks had the same horrible black soil filled with volcanic rock.
If I had of been repairing pipes back then at these tracks I would be retired now :o
