Looking forward to it. Was a fantastic event in 2014 & I have no doubt will be this year again. My last ride for a while, booked in for a double hip replacement the week after, so I'd best make the most of it. Don't stress too much ElsinoreYZ, the organisers will get you sorted with a partner.

just finished (almost ) prepping the two 400's for the games. got ol mates out for a blast, has had clutch slip issues but changing the funny looking purple brown goo in the gearbox for some straight 30 wt has tuned it up. Big K recoed the shocks and its humming over the bumps. New front tyre, chain and gears, swapping the bars over from the 510 with the barkies on em and a repack of the muffler was all that was required for my 400 . the fuel tap has decided to start weeping again so I will need to sort that. did an hour on the bike tonight, its running well, loving the power and just how good these old swedes are when the track turns to pooh. on track to be at the start!

Husky - what is leaking on the fuel tap?  I find if I leave my YZ sitting over the off season does the same thing - cure was to always have a spare internal rubber sitting and soaking in Wynns "expander" goo and simply change over - works like a charm.

its a bodgy "o" ring I fitted in place of the fine nylon washers that started leaking awhile ago. its possibly non fuel rubber which may be the problem.

Both my bikes (vintage & modern) are still to ridden on Sunday as a final "training" run before the once over in prep for the Masters Games. Have to prep them during work hours, so the boss may get told to "go away"! Heading up Thursday 10th.

well what a weekend! team cumagutza lapped consistently all weekend to land the gold in the pre 85 class...only drama was we had entered the pre 90!! we missed Bronze by 40 seconds or so.  :(

the course was mightily revised from what was seen on youtube due to losing 600 acres the week before the event. Hats off to the club and the Toowoomba boys who came and marked out a ripper track. it had tight tea tree, up around the mx track, open grassy plains and a bush track section complete with black mud and huge ruts and the requisite old burnt out commy ute on its side nxt to the big tree with roots going everywhere.
the day started hot and dry becoming really hot and humid and the Vinduro went off ok except for bike 2 loading up at the start and Muz needing to go out on my bike after a bit of pit drama! the track cut in nicely and we passed a few punters with only acouple of young hotshots getting past. On to the modern event and we ran a wr 450 yammie and my twin shock 400. I found the old bike too comfy to ride c/w the new arse kicker. lap times were consistent btw the bikes. it got reeaaal hot about 3 hrs in then ahugestorm arrived dumping 1 -2 inches in 30 minutes and turning the place into a swamp. a lot of punters couldnt get up the faces of the jumps and the black mud was a "both feet on the ground " job. don't ask about the tree roots....it rained so hard that just as our deck chairs were about to lift off, thy filled with rain and stayed put. don't ask Big K about the storm as he had some fun trying to get back on his bike in the soup.

we finished the event and after a couple of beers took our shattered bodies off for a pizza, water bottle purchasing trip and bed. we drank 48 bottles of water on saturday!

sunday we started the Vinduro running the course backwards, it was discussed taking the tea tree out as it was super greasy and a bottle neck, great idea. it was greasy as around the course and it was a case of hunting for grip somewhere! by the time I went out for my second lap, it was sticking up and some great slides on the grassy section were on! I came to the tea tree and struggled thru only to hit a tape at the end! they had finally cut it out but hadn't taped the entry point! I lost over a minute in there but that's how it goes.

the track tuned in nicely except for the entry to the back half of the course where you ran beside the exit track split by orange safety fencing. a huuuge hole had opened up and swallowed a couple of bikes (muddy water over the front guard as you went in) so suddenly this was cut out shortening the course dramatically. berms were becoming excellent to rail around and we all cleaned up a few bikes over the session. I was chasing down a bloke on a pe and tried to get him before the last tight tree root infested foresty section but he held me out only to dig the front in and go straight over, leaving the PE sitting on its seat and handlebars ;D! looked good but the battery on the go pro had died :-[ just missed making the last lap by 5 seconds...bloody tea tree marking...

the modern event was a slog to the finish but we were in the swing of things and circulated pretty consistently all within 10 - 20 seconds of each other except for the occasional stuff up over shooting a corner etc.

despite being shattered physically and mentally, it was a superb weekend getting the original "team Cumagutza" back on the track on huskys. just like old times ol mate said...

this is supposedly the last Vinduro Enduro for the masters games as the current organisers have retired...

It was an awesome event as Frank has described above. My day started interestingly as I got the time thing real wrong & turned up to the track just in time to make the first lap. My original partner for the vinduro was going for the trophy on the the sighting lap, went down hard, rang his bell & ended up with a concussion, huge cork thigh & a pretty busted bike. Guess he didn't know there are no prizes for winning the sighting lap! The medicos boycotted him riding for the day after the concussion, so I was partnered with another guy whose partner hadn't turned up. We ran ok in the vinduro but didn't place in the top three.
For the enduro, I was partnered with a Qld local, Andrew & we ran good, consistent times all afternoon until the storm hit. Andrew was on the course during the torrential rain & made it round pretty much unscathed. It was my turn just as the rain stopped, I made it through the first part of the course, some now very slippery grass track, the tight tea trees & then came the MX track. The red clay was now thick, shin deep slippery goop. I went down, really struggled to keep my footing while picking the bike up, but there was nowhere in sight for me to stand on so I could get back on the bike (thank you stuffed hips). I ended up pushing the bike an awful long way till I found a tree to stand on, managed to get back on the bike to finish the lap. Problem was almost an hour had past, costing our team greatly.
Sunday was very hot & the vinduro track started slippery as Frank has described above, I got to the bog, looked at the water & thought to myself, there was no hole there yesterday so ventured on. Before I knew it there was water over the top of the Huskies radiator shrouds, somehow I made it though. There was a guy on a Maico with his shirt off & steam coming off him like mad with the bike up against a tree, not sure what he was up to but he did get back out circulating later in the morning. David & I weren't having a lot of fun on the slick track but continued on to the end and managed to finish the vinduro at the back of the pack.
By the time the enduro came around, the shortened track had become absolutely awesome. It was real hot but Andrew & I were going very well, 2 laps each at a time & on the money for times in our class. At one time I thought my hands were going to spontaneously combust due to the heat. At the end of four hours, we were both totally spent but confident of a place. We did indeed place third in our class (up to 320cc, 50-59 Y/O) on 27 laps. Second was also on 27 laps with the winners on 28 laps. After looking at the times it became quite evident the my crook hips had definitely cost us 2nd place & probably the class win as our times were better until the mudfest which hammered me! Interestingly the overall winners made it around 35 laps in the allotted time, there were some real fast guys there for sure.
Big thanks to Col (super senior) & Alan for getting the event across the line. Although it is possibly the last time to be held due to land issues, I really hope that somehow they can make it happen for the next Masters Games. Put it on your bucket list anyway, it really is a must do event.
