Title: Akront Rim Decals
Post by: Short Stuff on September 09, 2016, 11:09:09 am

The rim decal on my front wheel is red on a gold background.  The decal on my back wheel is yellow on a silver background.

Is there a reason for this?  Does it mean something?

Thanks for any input.

me and google are best mates.

Seems the colour is the hardness of the ally.

The colors of the stickers had nothing to do with the year or style of the wheel. It was the hardness of the aluminum. Yellow was soft, red medium and green hard.

Hi Clyde, The red ones were used on trials bikes and the green ones were used on a lot of the european motocross bikes such as Maico, Husky. They also used the yellow label decals on rims that did not have the high (mud catcher) ridge.

Saw plenty of bent front rims which had the green label. Seems to me the yellow and red Akront's were stronger.

Thanks for doing the research, Pokey.

The decals are in reasonable condition, but I thought I might print myself some new ones.  I don't have any gold stock and was wondering if there was any point getting some.

Based on w hat you've just told me, I'll print them both out on silver.

Cheers.
