Title: PE250c petcock
Post by: Terrapista on August 27, 2016, 04:30:42 pm
Hi
I bought an aftermarket petcock advertised as 77/78 with a 14mm nut and mount bolts 25mm apart so does not mount correctly. Is 250c petcock mounted by the 2 bolts that are spaced 35mm apart only? Which model would the aftermarket one fit

For australia 77 PE tank is alloy and has a tap that screws onto a male spigot on tank. For 78 onwards tank is plastic and uses a different tap that is a flange mount type with 2 x 6mm screws. 77 and 78 are not the same tankks  and use different taps unless you are in UK where all their tanks were alloy.

If you can provide details of where you bought your tap i can tell you what it fits.

Both my tanks are stamped 78. Funny feeling this petcock is for 77 only according to your info. It was my fault as i didnt read the specs so i will wear it but still like to know what fits what. Here is a link to the item anyway.

I own a few alloy 77 tanks but i have never seen a date stamp on them. The Plastic ones have a date on them but all it means is when the tank was manufactured and nothing else. It does not indicate what year model the tank is for.

if it looks like the photo, is for a 77 model (alloy tank) only

you need to be aware of what you are buying on ebay and just dont believe it fits what the ebay item title/seller says it fits.
