Title: Naracoorte (SA) Vinduro: Sunday 28 August 2016
Post by: VERi on August 09, 2016, 12:09:46 am
The first VERi event outside of Victoria will take place at Naracoorte in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia on Sunday 28 August.

It will be held entirely on private property at "Moorex" on the Bordertown Road, approximately 25 kms from the township. VERi is extremely grateful to the landowner for generously allowing us to ride there.

We are privileged to be riding on a loop that will be used for a round of the South Australian Offroad Championship on the weekend following, which is pretty cool! So, we also thank in advance the Green Triangle Motorcycle Club & Naracoorte Motorcycle Club for their assistance.

We anticipate that the loop will be approximately 20 kms in length.

There will be camping available at the venue, with basic facilities, on Saturday night for $10 per person. There are many accommodation options available within Naracoorte for those seeking more comfort. Thanks are due to the Limestone Coast Offroad Club for letting us use the facilities. We ask that everyone camping please treat all facilities with respect and care.

There is no organised catering booked, so bring your own supplies, or make use of the nearby facilities in town. There may be a sausage sizzle operating on Sunday, but this isn't confirmed.

As always, make sure your have ambulance cover. There will be first aid on site, but if officials deem it necessary we will call an ambulance, and the onus to pay if you're not covered will be on YOU.

Please note that as this event is entirely on private property, all riders will need to have a Motorcycling Australia licence. There will be single event recreational licences for all riders who need them. Having a registered bike and road licence will NOT be sufficient.

Entry fee is $60. There is no late entry fee. For this event only VERi will also waive the non-member fee. An entry form will be available for pre-entry via email soon.

We're also waiving the "cold start test" as well, though we don't want any bike started prior to the riders' briefing on Sunday morning. Start and finish times will be announced closer to the event. We are hoping to have a practice track open for a few hours on Saturday too. More details will be made available soon.

I spoke to one of the chaps organising the loop for the SAORC (the same one we'll be using) and he says that the total distance is anticipated to be closer to 30 kms. He was confident we will enjoy it.

There won't be any pre-entry as such, just enter at the event on Saturday or Sunday morning. We may have the entry form available for download prior to the event for download for anyone wanting to fill it out before hand, keep checking the VERi website.

A map explaining how to get the event will be on the website very soon.

The local Lions Club will be doing catering at the event on Sunday from the morning onwards. There'll be delicious hot food available, as well as coffee, tea and cold drinks. We ask all riders and friends/family/spectators to support them!

Please make sure all bikes are in a safe working condition prior to the event.

We are trying to get a rough idea of how people will be at the event so if you're reasonably sure you'll be there (no commitment) drop us a line at [email protected] and mention if you'll need a single event MA licence too.

Some VERi members have been helping with setting out the loop. They reckon it's pretty cool...  8) Not long to go now. Pre-enter online at the link in GMC's post, or just rock up at the event.

Love to be going to this one but the 5 and a bit hour drive and putting crap away at the end of it might be a bit too much.

Coupled with the fact that my IT400 is shagged and my IT175 is fresh out of brakes.

And my DT200L is in resto back burner, my good IT200L is next in line, the last running IT200L is in the yard currently undressed, but in need of bearings, seals and love and may make it to Cooka.

Might be the KDX175 next, then the IT250H is a long back burner project, the IT250K will be after the IT200 (both of them, then possible the DT1A or the DT250F, or the seventies parallel twin Suzuki roadie, or maybe the RZ421.

I tell you, this working for a living is crap. imagine how much more time I would have to play with bikes...

Everything is looking good for making the trip this weekend. Just have to put some new shoes in the front of the TT (harrow mud). How many are camping at the track?

There'll definitely be a few (including me). I hear that firewood has already been gathered.  :D

Hey fred99999au, don't you have access to an XT250? Problem solved!

A lot of volunteers have done a great job in getting this course ready. Should be a great ride tomorrow, mind how go over the potatoes and onions - now there's an obstacle you don't see every day!

Entries taken tomorrow, so don't miss this awesome ride if you can make it!

What a day! VERi’s first interstate vinduro has been a success with riders from SA & Vic enjoying a very challenging course in absolutely perfect weather. No doubt there’ll be more said about the actual riding in the coming days, but VERi would like to get in early with a big THANK YOU to all of the people and organisations below:

Greg Gartner (landowner) for the generous use of his amazing property.

Mark Gardner and Ashley Appledore. These guys have really put in some serious hard work, hours and fuel over the last few weeks and were instrumental in getting this event from idea to reality. Colin Harper also gets a nod for his work in marking the course too.

Owen Rothe, our MA Steward who came to the rescue at short notice and ensured this event could take place.

The Gippsland girls Andrea and Karen for taking over sign-on duties so committee members could deal with other duties.

The sweep riders: Brayden Steen, Katie Gardner, Steve Wedding and Michael Milton.

Kevin for towing the VERi trailer home.

Also… Lions Club of Naracoorte, Limestone Coast Off Road Club, Mark Jennings, Old Bike Australasia, St John’s Ambulance SA, Naracoorte Motorcycle Club, Green Triangle Motorcycle Club, Adrian Fitzgerald, Joe Bunnik, Geoff Morris, John “Tex” O’Brien, Motorcycling SA, South Australian Off Road Championship, and all of the locals who were so helpful and friendly. And of course, anyone we’ve accidentally forgotten.

Finally a big THANK YOU is also due to all of the riders and their supporters who attended this event. Everyone was patient during sign on and scrutineering, many helped with course marking on Saturday, riders helped each other out on the course, there were great attitudes and smiles all round. We asked that riders take their rubbish home with them, and once everyone left there was not one piece of rubbish to be picked up. Not one. You guys are amazing.

Many thanks to Tex for getting this event over the line, while we only had 30 odd entries to this new event everyone had a huge smile on their dial.
I did a sighting lap and the 2 loops were awesome riding, looking forward to this one again next year.
