Title: Welding a cracked engine case
Post by: PEZBerq on August 13, 2008, 09:35:30 pm
Can anyone recommend someone to weld up a cracked Husky magnesium engine case?

Cleaned the crap off the engine on a 240WR I recently acquired and discovered a crack up around the kickstart area.  :( Probably can live without getting it fixed by using liquid metal to repair from the inside to stop oil leaking out but it would be nice to fix it properly. Especially as I will be repainting the cases.

BTW do people powder coat engine cases or is paint the way to go?

I'm in Brisbane.  Cheers :)

I has a YZA case welded im not sure of the Magnesium or alloy content but, snowy ardell did it from me and charged only $25 Bucks.

IT was cracked right across the mount and removed and created a new section, he filled the hole thing properly over a copper sleeve.   sweet ....
