Haven't bothered with a kidney belt for a while now since my old one self destructed but since I had the 'cases split open' I think I should invest in a new one to help keep things together.
What do you guys use and recommend?

I hope you are starting to get a bit more comfortable Geoff.
This what I do for a Kidney belt these days

I have Dainese as well. But I dig this Thor heaps more. I love it. The adjusters are all within easy reach and they are so easy to back off when it is time to remove, the easiest one ever to get in and out of. The kidney belt is removable as is the lobster back spine protector.
I wear it alone, straight on my skin. I remove the spine protector and run a $19.99 Aldi hydration pack in its place. Very cool and comfy. So easy to clean.
When you are on a good thing stick with it.
If I could spare the bucks? I would buy more of them and store them.

I've still got my company issue kidney belt from O'brien glass from the 90s lol use to wear it when I unloaded the windscreens from the furnace, farrrk I love that job lol jimson

My Six One Six body armour suit has one built in like the Dainese picture Mick D put up.
-
I always wear one of some sort.
If I wear a kidney belt I currently use a THOR. It's wide and quite thick with good padding and provides great support to my lower back.
My current body armour, 661, has a built in kidney belt which feels quite good. I had a Dainese pressure suit and while the armour was comfortable the kidney belt offered little support and failed within a year

I feel half naked without a kidney belt. (Even though they are no longer fashionable.)
I use a FOX ("Black Belt" from memory.). I would only rate it as "ok". I've tried two Fox belts.
Not as supportive ("stiff") as I remember the "old school" belts.
I'd be interested in an upgrade if anyone has a good suggestion. The THOR sounds worth checking out. (I recently discovered "THOR" is Torsten Hallman Off Road.)
PS. Geoff, I wish I'd offered you my spare kidney belt instead of a beer now, at CD. Thanks for the chat re pipes, the universe and everything.

I swear by my 661 pressure suit - body armour kidney belt, back protector, elbow/shoulder protection - the works - and soooo comfortable.
-
ive been using a "plastic suit" like that one above Geoff and highly recommend them. very comfy and they work (field tested several times :o) the built in kidney belt is a great feature and settles the whole shebang nicely. I cant remember what brand it was ( it would have been a cheap one for sure)

Because I had a work related back problem I purchased a back brace (kidney belt) from a medical supply store. Left usually work better than the MX ones. It should also be a tax deduction.

Not real keen on the body suits, I prefer to travel light

What type of Thor belt do you use brent, they seem to have a few models

Was great to have met you, hmmm, now who were you? ;D
Lots of people offered me a beer but I was a cheap shout as I'm not drinking at the moment
-
if you cant find one Geoff, I have a good qual belt surplus to requirements...start collecting those beers and ill sort them out for you :D
-
Hi Jimson, did you work at the Padstow O'Briens glass?
If you wear a Leatt neck brace have a look at the newish Leatt armour. I like the decent coverage it gives over the liver and other vitals and it works the best with the neck brace IMO.

I bought an Aldi kidney belt. It's pretty good and it was cheap. But you just have to wait till they come up for sale.

I rode two laps of the long harrow loop bit and 1 back to base WITHOUT a belt on ...still sore in the lower back and sides...idiot... :o

I use a THOR "FORCE" belt. It's quite wide and thick but gives good support and protection
