before I go searching, does anyone know a source for these ?
-
Mick - not sure if they have them but the best range of parts yet I have seen are www.nwvcp.com and www.yamatopdog.com - usually expensive but see how you go. Yamatopdog - Speed and Sport - list one and contact them for the other which usually means they have an alternative.
-
Check that they are not the same as DT1 seals first , far cheaper .
-
Just checked the parts book the numbers are the same and sizes SW 30-72-10 and SW 42-72-10 . Iain
-
and that is what S & S would probably offer as an alternative
thanks Iain.
Hey - not around Hobart much are you????
-
yep, not available from Yamaha anymore and not sure about NOS seals after all these years.
-
don't know that they demanded enough to have someone making new ones now Mick - unless by some miracle a late model set fit????

Thanks for the info

The last time I rebuilt my sons YZ125 (2006 model) I got all the seals from a bearing joint & had no problems whatsoever & a 3rd the price of genuine.
Remember NOS ones will be up to 40 years old & may fail prematurely due to being brittle.
I had one seal fail on my YZ250 1979 (Stator side) & needed a quick fix & again used one from the bearing place without issues.
That said they may not have the exact size thickness wise. Meaning they will most likely have ones that have the correct inner & outer diameter but smaller in width. I have used these in various location & they still perform as expected but you just have to be careful when seating them.
