I bit the bullet and got and XR's Only stainless steel muffler for my 83 XR500. They also make one for your bike. They are a work of art. Usually, they take a bit of time to order as they hand make them. Look great, sound great,

I have seen them. Hoping someone might have a pipe gathering dust in their shed.

I had an aftermarket pipe laying around but threw it in with the bike when I sold it a while back. To be honest didn't like it much as it was very noisy so I got hold of an old original muffler which had been gutted and filled with chicken wire. Pulled the wire out and made up a custom tip for it and I reckon the bike performed better and sounded better.

They used to make one for XR250 but probably stopped when the model became outdated. I am sure they would have the patterns still so may be able to make one to order for you.

Still after one.

Still after one.
Which year is your XR250? The bikes had three different mufflers between 84-94. Cheers, Mark

Its for a 86. But looking at 84 to 85 as well and make it fit.

Have you called Staintine direct?? I once wanted a muffler for my XT660Z Tenere and was told by all dealers "they don't make them anymore" so I decided to phone direct. The fella I spoke to said "yeah of course we can still make one, we've still got a jig for every pipe we've ever made!!." He did say that rare order may need a few weeks lead time as they would need to dig out the jig and do a one off but that was the only condition, pretty sure pricing was just the same as modern equivalent, $400-$500 from memory.

I've also had good experiences with Staintune, and their mufflers are second to none, I've had them on my bikes. They sound great, increase the power right through, and because they're made from stainless, they clean up really well and are very durable. If you've got the money look no further IMO :D

you should be able to find an exhaust joint that will make you a muffler.
3.5" diam tube, 20mm inner perforated baffle tube, couple of end caps (lazer cut), bit of 1" tube bent to suit. weld her all up, instant muffler.
I know its a bit more complicated than that but its not that hard if you can find the right bloke. look for an exhaust joint with a bike in the back of a ute out the front... 8)

Hoping someone has one gathering dust in their shed. Agree with Staintune being number one in exhausts.

Just to confirm, is your bike a single carbie model or twin? If your bike is an 86 it would be a single carb. I may have one for an 84-85.
Cheers, Mark.

Its a single. Still interested in what you have. May be able to make it fit.

I've seen the RE/RF OEM mufflers fitted to the later models, you would have to modify/move the subframe mounting bracket on the top of the muffler. If you're handy with a welder or know someone that is, it would be quite do-able. I have an idea I may have an XR250RE/RF (84-85) muffler somewhere amongst my stash, will have a look and let you know. 8)
