Title: Broadford bike bonanza
Post by: mxmaniac on March 26, 2016, 07:47:01 pm
Hats off to the crew for a MX track in prime condition for us to ride today. Had a blast.
The vinduro loop was a shocker, hopefully a new location or something for next year.

I spent the day spectating, but I reckon I spent just as much time talking to blokes I haven't seen in a while as I did watching the action on the various tracks. No complaints mind you, it was a great way to spend the day.

I wish I was riding the enduro loop thru the local forest tomorrow... And jeez the road bike guys look like they're having a blast, I'm keen to have a go at that too. Maybe riding again next year...

This event just seems to be getting bigger every year. Big crowd, lots of cool bikes; is there a similar event anywhere else in the world?

I had a fantastic weekend, and this year with the 3 bikes I took I managed to do every track there except for the Trials.  :) I had a ball on the road race track as usual and I quite enjoyed the new natural terrain hill course as well as the MX track although I need to upgrade the springs in the CR to be able to enjoy it fully, but the most fun I had for the weekend was getting out on the flat track for the first time ever. Wasn't sure if I would like it but I was determined to give it a try this year and absolutely loved it. As for the Vinduro loop I thought it was better than last year but they don't really have much to work with in that area to be able to improve it.

Spent 2 half days flagging on the MX track but managed to get a session in on the flat track on my 1968 montesa and had a blast, I have been volunteering for last 6yrs and have never seen the MX track looking so good. Good turnout great weekend.

Wow Broadford bike bonanza

What a Grate weekend . The Dirt track was Fully Booked  and Full of Bikes and the  Road race to was over full with Bikes .
Sad to say that the Motocross was low in numbers and Bikes ..but the was good news to this was that for all the MX riders as they were treated to a Top track with not a lot of bikes so you could ride all day .. and they Did ..Many I had talked to
had put 15 litres to 20 litres through their Bike on the saturday .. alone ... thats a lot of Riding ...

The swap meet was Poor Very Poor and I am sorry to say this  as One of the reasons I go is for the swap meeting..
In BBB passed they have been Very Good ..

Tony  had lots of Yamaha IT stuff .. But you could not find not much elis  .. :-\ :-\

You are right you can't spell for shit.

MOTOCROSS  has only got one 'R"  it comes from the French word

MOTOCROSSE  Moto for motorcycle and Crosse for cross country.

Also word may change it to be spelt incorrectly so don't rely on spell check.

Tex

Very similar by the sounds of it to the Vintage Motorcycle Days weekend held each year in Ohio USA. Me and a couple of friends went last July for a look, all vintage bikes catered for with tracks including motocross, enduro, trials, road and flat-track, plus the biggest swap meet in USA (Mid-Ohio Swap Meet). If you're ever planning on being in USA during July and have a weekend free, may be worth scheduling it into your travel plans.

I've been to mid Ohio four times when I was working over there. Great venue, but the flat track was at a different course at a showground in town. The swap meet in unbelievable, the biggest problem for me was packing the goodies into my luggage for the trip back to Oz.

Poor old oz555ktm goes to the trouble of posting up some great pictures but rather than applaud him for that you choose to belittle him by criticising his use of the English language and giving him a word origin lesson, no doubt sourced straight from Google. It must be a little embarrassing for you, however, when you read back through your post and realise that you have failed to punctuate it correctly. Perhaps you should add "can't punctuate for shit" as a disclaimer for all your future posts.

There is a pic of K.D. doing a parade lap on Oz Classic Dirt Track. I have a pic of the naked Guzzi on my email.
Thanks to Rick Wason and the crew for putting this thing together. Thanks to Pete and Jackie for coming down to show us the
beautiful Yammie twin flattracker. It was a great event full of highlights. Watto in full flight at Broadford is sight to behold.
Just a great weekend of classic dirt. Looking forward to next year.
regards Mark

You are right you can't spell for shit.

MOTOCROSS  has only got one 'R"  it comes from the French word

MOTOCROSSE  Moto for motorcycle and Crosse for cross country.

Also word may change it to be spelt incorrectly so don't rely on spell check.

He can spell good enough to get a job. If you are such a good communicator why don't you have a job Kevvy?

I thought my job is annoying you.

Thanks But I Do warn you all .....

and I do rely on spell check ...

Add lest  my Grammar was good  ..Hay  Kevin  :D

Thanks I wasn't really just correctly your spelling, I was pointing out the word that means a lot to myself and others was spelt wrong.

That was why I not only corrected it but I stated why it was wrong.

Let the further insults begin.

I never saw the V8 there without the fairing but found this pic on ADV

Holy timing nightmare Robin. I have nothing but admiration for this piece of exotica, but why they would choose to use 8 sets of points over two sets with two distributors is beyond me. I'm sure there would be a good reason for it though...

Just wondering if anyone knows where I might find some more photo's from the dirt tracks. Just like last year SD pics was out taking photo's of the road bike circuit but once again I don't seem to be able to find anything much from the MX track, flat track (other than the spectacular) or either of the Vinduro tracks even though there seemed to be a lot of people with fancy looking camera's propped on many of the corners taking pics.
So where are they all?

Now that is what I am talking about. Great work and very nice pics.  ;D particularly the shots of the side cars they really captured how hard the passenger works when tearing around the track.
I went through all of them and even managed to find some pics of me in there and while my riding didn't look that impressive it was my first ever outing on the flat track so it was good to see some pics that at least prove I was there and had a crack. Of all the tracks I did at Broadford this year I had the most fun on the flat track so I can't wait until next year to try it out again. Now that I know what to expect all I need to do is decide which of my bikes will be best suited to it so I can really have some fun.
Here's a couple of the ones I found of me

And here is what I am talking about with regard to the side cars

NOW all I need to do is find some from the MX and natural terrain hill tracks  :)

Now that does sound interesting but I am busy this weekend. Admittedly we have a track here in Albury as well so I might have to go and try it out one day.

Three words of advice for you through the corners, Trokel510 - sit further forward. Try it, you'll be amazed by the difference.

Ok thanks. Will try and remember that for next time. Admittedly I found I was a bit too cramped on that bike due to my height which is why I think I will try one of my other bikes next time. Maybe the CR or XR600 would suit me better.

Bit more than a few. :)
Great work and thanks for sharing there are a lot of excellent pics in there.I really enjoyed looking through them. It was great to see some pics from the various dirt tracks, even found one of me on the Natural terrain track on the XL500 but still searching to see if I can find one of me on the CR.

Cheers Troy
